Has anyone done the antenna mod to their 3pk. The same mod that has been done on the M8 and M11.

I'm running a Slash on a LOOSE dirt track and have been thinking about what I could do with exponential. I'd like to make the truck a little "softer" on the bottom end. Can I accomplish this with expo, and which way do I need to go.

Radio: 3PKS w/ Spektrum module and Micro receiver

Thanks!

Yes you can... bend your throttle curve "down"... so that it cuves up.

Hello all finally made the step to real radio gear. Picked up obviously a 3PK with fasst. Is there a place to get a plug for the metal antenna?

DezSlash, If you want a cheap plug for your antenna. Go to Lowes and look in the hardware section for a hole plug. I think you need the 3/8 dia. plug.
Hole plug

Here is an example and what mine looks like.

Which receiver?? Only ones I've heard about getting hot and shutting down are the 2.4ghz receivers. If its that one you're having troublew with, there was several service bulletins from Futaba about how to avoid - don't use a piece of foam in your radio box for padding, mount the receiver on its side, not on the bottom and make sure it gets some cooling air.

This receiver has an IC inside and it will shut doen when it gets too hot.

Pretty obvious yours is already bound, otherwise wouldn't be working. Binding is a process of letting the 2.4 rx identify the tx. After binding, it will not "listen" to any other tx's signal, so there is no chance of interference.

On a Futaba system, its pretty simple, you bring the tx and rx close together (within 3 feet) and turn the tx on, turn the rx on, push the botton on the rx. You should get a green lite. They are bound together.

Somewhere on Futabas site I've read they do this binding for packaged systems - if you got tx and a rx together, they were already bound.

Pretty sure my 3PK FASST receiver is overheating. It cuts out and puts the servos at neutral and the light on the receiver flashes red. Only happens to me on a bump up, about half way through the second race. For instance, I bumped from the B-Main to the A-Main and it cut out just about half way through the A-Main. So roughly 25 minutes of straight run time and it poops out. Really irritating.

Only other thing I can think of is the radio cutting off when the transmitter battery gets too low... at what voltage will it kill the signal?

Sounds like its overheating, should have more time on a fresh charged rx batt than that, I get a matter of hrs. Futaba has advised not to wrap these rxs in foam like fm ones were, to mount it where it can receive some cooling air and mount it on its side rather than bottom. Some put holes in their radio box, others run it outside the box.

Here's what Futaba said -

I put holes in my case after the first time it happened, receiver is on its side. I know it's not the RX battery, I have a 2000mAh lipo pack, with regulator. I am thinking maybe the transmitter battery pack itself. At what transmitter voltage does the transmitter cut out signal?

I have no foam in the box, and I never had this problem in my old Losi 8ight. I am thinking that perhaps since the receiver box is located at the back of the 808 right beside the engine, it is getting a lot of heatsoak and crapping out.
