Default 3PK synth module: what receiver to use?

The info on Tower's page about the new "black" 3PK #FUTJ2901 including the #PK-FSM75 synth module shown at

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=FUTJ2901&P=K

was apparently recycled from the existing text about the old "platinum" 3PK #LXCML6** at

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXCML6**&P=M

My guess is that the text about the #FUTJ2901 must be incorrect where it implies that the synth module is compatible with the

R203HF Receiver HRS 75MHz, #FUTL0344

The #FUTL0344 receiver is crystal-based, not a synth unit, so it can't be compatible with the #PK-FSM75 synth module.

What synth receiver does Futaba intend be used with the #PK-FSM75 synth module?

I have emailed Futaba several times and had no response.

Anyone know?

You're better off sanding it down lightly... Prime it...
and spray with Laquer paint.. more durable than Enamel.
of course..you'll have to take the TX apart first.
can i get a step by step on how to take it apart?
I want to paint my 3PK yellow or black...

Default Surprising answer from Tower Re: 3PK synth module: what receiver to use?

Me to Tower:

The info on your page about the new "black" 3PK #FUTJ2901 including the #PK-FSM75 synth module was apparently recycled from the existing text about the old "platinum" 3PK #LXCML675. Tower:

The synthesized module is compatible with the R203HF receiver. Our information is correct, the radio has a module that does not use crystals, but when you switch channels the receiver crystal needs to be changed.

Me:

That doesn't make sense at all. The whole point of going synth is so that you don't have to change crystals at all. I'd contact Futaba to confirm that.

Tower:

We have confirmed this with Futaba, the receiver in that combination still uses crystals. If you would like to check, look at Futaba's lineup, there is no fully synthesized receiver right now for car use.

Default synth module

If I was you I would wait until the new Spektrum modules are out until making a major purchase. Crystals and freq pins will be obsolete. If you do buy the new synth futaba trans. you could use a novak synth. reciever. Why futaba would release the module and not the reciever to match is strange.

Yes thats right. You dont need Synth on both sides. I know plenty of people who use the Synth recievers with crystal based transmitters and vice versa.

Had a problem Sunday with my 3pk in the main. The wheel kept going at full lock then there was no spring centering of the wheel. It did it once in the 3rd qualifier and then in the main. The first time it snapped back eventually and was OK. Haven't torn into it but has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?

Really sucks because it cost me winning the race I think

Thanks,
Blake

Really?

But say you turn the screw on the synth module to, say, ch. 68 but the receiver has a crystal inserted for, say, ch. 84.

How will the two connect?
