Default Hi Tec Spectra 2.4 DSSS Module and Futaba 3PJ Super

I have a Futaba 3PJ Super fm transmitter and want to convert it to 2.4ghz.

According to the HiTec website the item#28724 Spectra 2.4 DSSS Module will work in several Futaba transmitters; however they don't say which ones.

I emailed them earlier today and have yet to hear back from them about this. Does anyone know if that module will work in the Futaba 3PJ Super?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Other options exist - FAAST will work, the old Futaba FM synth module will even work -

I'm not sure I'd want to mix....

It should work out just fine, for the last 10 years I have been using a Futaba 3PJ Super with a Hitech synthesized FM tx module with zero problems. Compatibility has not been an issue as I still use that module with Futaba std and pcm receivers, Novak xxl and Novak xxtra synthesized FM receivers and never had a single glitch, unlike the Spectrum DX3r guys at my track are having.

So I see no reason to believe a Hitec Spectra module on 2.4 would be a problem in your 3pjs radio. Which receiver are you looking to run with the module?

I may look into this myself as upgrading to the Fasst 2.4 system is crazy expensive when you have to buy 5 or 6 receivers too.

I really like the feel of my 3PJs and always hated the "radar gun" 3PK so I never felt the need to change. Plus the synthesized module and receivers gives me all 75 mhz channels that nobody its using now anyway. The only problem I have had is the ribbing from other drivers about my fishing pole antenna on the drivers stand, actually it bothers them more than it bothers me so I may keep it!

I found this receiver for $53 which is almost half of a Futaba Fasst rx.

Or a Tx module and Rx combo for $99

It's only $145 for the module and 2 receivers which seems like a pretty good deal.

I have had very good luck with the below combo in my 3PK in both gas and electric:

Cheap and reliable. Should work in the 3PJ also.

Thanks for the info kcobra, nice to know of a cheap alternative. I also read on Hobbytalk about someone using the same system on their 3pj with success. I guess the only benefit to the Hitech option is a little smaller receiver.
