Default Benefits of JR HV servos

Question, I am currently running JR 9100 and 8800 servos in both my buggy and truggy, would like to the benefit of running the HV servos besides not having to run a regulator with my lipos. Is it better ruggedness, faster? Any input before I shell out 800 dollars in servos would be appreciated.

ive had the jr hv's for a year now on my truggy for steering and throttle
Ive had to replace the b4 gear in them both about 3 times which has been a major piss off. they only seem to let go at big events
now the throttle servo has completly packed it in
i had these highly recommended to me but for the money i expected alot more

i've had hitec 7955's in my buggy for 2 years now running on lipo 7.4 and they are still going strong. i had them in my truggy before i tried the jr's and the steering servo just stopped one day. hitec replaced it so i think im going to go back to the hitecs

Not to mention when it stops working after a week. They will send you it back saying the repair is to costly and your are S.O.L.

Intresting may look into hitec servos then, that's a good reason to possibly switch. Thx

Good luck with that, when you get tired of them breaking get Hitec or savox and be done.

Man I did the exact same thing last year when they came out and inwas pissed when one died after 2 race days. Then when I sent it back to horizon they told me that I damaged it by running too much voltage through it and this wasthe last time they would replace it. I sold them at much less than I paid and went hitec 7940/7950 The hitecs have been great to me. I recently put in some ko rsx hv servos and they are the smoothest I have ever seen. Same $200 as the Jr. I only have 1 race day on them but so far I like them. Don't buy the expensive paper weights or you may have an expensive lesson like I did.

+1...I actually bought Franks newly replaced HV's last year and had two throttle servos die on me in my MBX6T. Luckily, I sent them back to Jr and they replaced them without question. I will say that I was very disappointed in losing two servos after only a few runs. I am now running the Hitech 7940/7950 combo in my Buggy without issue.

Man that sucks I am sorry to hear that. I am glad they took care of you at least you didnt lose and $$. (I think its the bling that lures people in, it did me anyway)

I would seriously steer clear of the JR HV servos.

I have never had a problem with JR service. If anyone wants a HV 9100s, I have a brand new one for $135 shipped.

If you're wanting some servos that you can use on 7.4V unregulated, look at KO Propo's servos. Jumping the voltage up does bump the voltage and torque up a bit from numbers rated at 6V. KO Propo's 'old' line of servos (has PDS prefix) you could do this with. I've ran these line of servos like this for 1.5 - 2 years and it didn't hurt them. The 'new' line of servos (RSx prefix) are designed more towards 7.4V and have improved features and specs. I've used the RSx servos for about 4 months and no issues so far.
