Wonderful Turnigy Quality Control.. yeah right.
I bought this battery a month ago, and realized after receiving it that it was too big to fit my sc10, so I tested to see if it charged correctly and stored it. Today I figured out it could fit in my zx-5, but once I plugged it in it went dead. So I put it on the charger and it said "connection break" or something like that. So I took it off and checked to see if it had any voltage at all, and where the break was. I ended up taking off the shrink wrap and getting down to the soldered connections. Here's what it looked like;
basically one tab wasn't even connected. The only reason it made any connection at all was the tape covering it in the shrinkwrap, but once I plugged it in the current draw broke that surface connection. the other tab in the right of the picture is also poorly done, but it's connected. I cleaned it up and resoldered it all, and it works fine.
In case you ever get a turnigy (or any other chinese battery that you'll probably need to fight with customer service to exchange) that has a connection break, perhaps you'll find something like what I found. I still can't believe it left the factory like this. It's a completely unsoldered tab. The other side is buried in the solder mound like it should be.

Yeah thats the downside. Sometimes you need to fix a solder joint. Out of 6 batteries from hobbyking I had to fix a joint on only one of them.

When you buy HK lipos, you either buy extra or be prepared to deal with probs. I'm 1 of 7 with them (low voltage cell in a 3S). If the lipos I'm buying are critical, I'll buy an extra.
Guy on RC Groups opened up a Hyperion lipo he was having issues with and it didn't look that much better than yours......

I've had great luck with HC lipos. I'm 8 for 8...all good here.

yep, the second one I've seen here today. The other guy was trying to sell credit card copy equipment.
Other than the solder tab, I haven't had any issues with the HK (turnigy) lipos either. I get great run time out of them. My only complaint before this was the enormous size of wire they put on (I think my 5200 has 8awg wire on it. Total overkill). Try soldering that to a deans connector
