Default Charging a "puffed" lipo

I have a Turnigy 5200mah 2S 30C hardcase battery that has puffed up.

Is it still safe to charge?
Can you overcharge a lipo?

Last time I charged the battery it took 5950mah.

I'm assuming you're not talking about one that already looks like a football -as long as the lipo doesn't start swelling more while you're charging, it may be OK. If it starts to swell while you're charging, stop immediately and take the lipo somewhere where it can't damage anything if it does continue to swell and go off.

If you're using a good lipo capable charger in lipo mode for charging, you shouldn't be able to overcharge it, voltage should not get too much more than 4.2v/cell.

Capacity is another issue. Some lipos are under rated, it does happen.

TOSS IT !

It's not worth toasting your vehicle, or your charger, or your garage. It's time to send that thing to lipo-heaven.

I actually just tossed out a hobby people lipo yesterday that i discovered puffed. Left it fully charged for a couple months...bad move

The battery doesn't puff from charging.

It has only been balance charged since new and I only have 6 cycles on it. I ran it twice in my Blitz with a Novak 10.5 and a few times in my crawler with a Tekin FXR 35T combo.

I just finished charging it again and it balanced perfectly at 4.20 volts. Capacity only went to 5400mah. Every other time it charged to no less than 5900mah.

Don't really want to throw it out because it is the only battery I have right now. Still waiting for my new order of 4 batteries to arrive.

It doesn't sound like this lipo is going to be a prob in the meantime.

What you need to watch for is it suddenly starting to get bigger.
