one simple question:

Does the 119 software has more total timing then the good old 518stock...?

No steps or things like that, just the actual timing...?

And if there is a difference, how much?

The consensus of opinion seems to be that 2 steps is 1.5 degrees, so the full 60 steps would be 45 degrees, please someone correct me if I have this wrong.

Thats correct. What the real debat (in my own mind anyways), is the FW limited to 60 degrees or 60 steps.

From testing, and reading the manual (removing the word "degrees" throughout it), is the FW allows 60 steps Total, or approx 45 deg of timing.

Right please someone put me out of my misery, take a look at this......

Looking at this diagram I am now getting myself all messed up, I think I understand the fact that the rotational speed is controlled by the Frequency of the electrical pulse around the circuit and that by adding 'Timing' we are in effect pre energising the 'next' pair of coils, but looking at the diagram I can see that 2 coils are always energised, the pulse just moves around the circuit. This would mean, if I understand the diagram right, that in Brushless applications, 60 Degrees can be put into the advance as the 'just passed' attracting coil is de energised. Meaning I guess (correct me please) that, as originally commented on, the physical limit to advance is 60 Degrees in a 3 pole setup?

Please someone with a PhD help me out on this as it is really getting on my wick trying to work it out !!!

Shawn.
This is the secrets.
Shawn, There is really that Range of Timing is 0~60 (theoretical)
as where the 60 is Straight, and can only be done While rotating.
That's is at V3.0_110119. This is The Real SuperCharge is.

So what is the new 64 ?
like i said, it was 4 secret's.
i will simply uncover it.

It is 60+4, This is What Brushed Can't Do once again beside Advanced,
and Dynamic.
So it's Like Dual Timing, per Rotation.
it is not out of Physics , because it's still can be Done with in range 0~60. and it's Still in the Dynamic.

Yes, also called a WYE stator, in modified (europe) you can also run a delta motor. The diagram Cherry2Blost post is clear enough to make his point, which is very accurate. The way the delta and wye motors are connected is the same, but the way it is controlled is slightly differenent. Normally you can get more RPM out of a delta motor, and more torque out of the wye/star type of stator.

Hey Irgo, do you think he is talking about 64 STEPS???? And NOT 64 degrees?

After this I am giving up. Its been amuzing, since I had nothing better to do than watch paint dry today. Let irgo run his 64deg of timing, I will run my 59, with less heat, and more power.

Cheers,
Shawn.

Hey Guys im having some issues with my 120amp HW esc.
Im wanting to use 119stock software with boost and turbo and etc.But im unsure where to set my settings at i have been running 518fw but want to try 119fw because of the extra adjustments i can make compared to 518.
Here are my settings in 518fw
FDR - 5.11
Boost - 8
Turbo Level - 8
Boost Start Rpm - 4500
Turbo Delay - 0.2sec
Timing Punch - -3

now my question is how do put my existing settings into 119fw as I want to use my existing settings for a base setup for it.

Settings I need are
Boost Timing - ?
Turbo Open Time - ?
Turbo Timing - ?
Boost Start Rpm - ?
Turbo Open Delay - ?
Boost Timing Acc - ?

Cheers inadvance to the guys that can help

Here's one for you. I have 2 cars set up with the 2 different software's. Pain in the A$$ to have 2 controller boxes set up with the different FW also At the moment i think its a little unfair on the duo 2 being put up against a mighty duo 1 but the duo 2 is in a brand new Mi4CX and the duo2 is in a year old T3. But with so little timing added to the duo1 im amazed at how fast it was.

FW518 Duo 1 17.5
boost 5 turbo 2 timing acc -4
best lap 16.27 in xray t3

FW119 Duo2 17.5
boost 50 turbo 20
best lap 16.47 in Mi4CX

There are some massive differences with the settings there and the Duo 1 is so much quicker over 5 minutes not just hot laps. Wish i had a stash of these motors still. Ill be bolting back in a duo 2 next round for a true back to back test but im thinking of switching back to 518.

Got a bit worried, but the only thing I changed from the last time I ran was the firmware ( upgraded to 219 ) so I changed it back to 518 reset the end points and the car ran fine for the rest of the day.

Anyone any ideas?

With the 119 (or 1224), you can easily Over time the motor, and it sounds like this is what you have done. Try upgrading back to the 119 software, and then start very conservative on the timing. We do know that step #54 Boost is 36 deg of timing. (Confirmed here on Rctech).

Brushless motors will not run properly with more then 60deg of timing, they tend to run slow and make alot of heat.

Shawn.
Car : MI4LP
Motor : 13.5GM
Gearing : 7.01 rollout
Track : Carpet, med grip, flowing and tight turns and indoor temp 8'c
ESC settings : default factory settings ( uploaded software and didnt change anything )

After the first 5 lap run motor was 25'c
