Tried this new software out tonight, and WOW! I did my first heat with my Tekin RS Pro and Nosram Pure Evo, then in the second heat I put in my Xerun with a the budget GM 13.5 and there was a huge difference! The car was faster in a straight line, felt more responsive to throttle inputs and had more punch out the corners. Only downside is the motors run a bit hotter. I was geared at 7.32fdr in my Mi4, and after a 5 minute race and a few laps before, I was seeing temps of 80-90 celcius.

Anyway for any of you guys like me that just got the LCD double check your settings are staying...
Thanks Joel !

The LCD program box does need you to press "OK" button for each programmable item. It works in a different way from LED program card. So please double check the settings.

Drag brake at 100%? I think if you run closer to 0, your temps should go down more.

Try the suggested settings for a 13.5. They are pretty good and will keep the temps nice and low.

Drag brake 100% with brace force on 100%? Are you sure about this?

Ran this last night with the recommended settings for the 13.5T motor (running the XeRun 13.5T).

#9 8
#12 7
#13 6000rpm
#14 0.4sec
#15 -1

Measured 75c motor temp after 5 mins of driving.
This seemed bloody hot to me so i tried a few different settings.

#9 6
#12 5
#13 9000rpm
#14 0.5sec
#15 -2

Noticeably slower but the motor ran a fair bit cooler at 52c.

Couple of questions please.
1/ What sort of motor temps your guys seeing?
2/ What sort of temps do you think is acceptable?

I want to have Mode 3 as stock just in case i get any problems on the track, could someone please confirm these are the stock settings?

#9 1 (0)
#12 1 (off)
#13 9 (15000rpm)
#14 9 (0.8s)
#15 7 (1000)

Lastly could some one please advise which way to go to run the motor hotter or cooler.
e.g.
#9 1 cooler - 9 hotter
#12 1 cooler - 9 hotter
#13 9 hotter - 1 cooler
#14 9 hotter - 1 cooler
#15 9 hotter - 1 cooler

*Edit
I'm running a 6.97 final gear ratio

Cheers
Mark

I know drag brake will increase temperature, but I've tried driving without and things dont seem right, the car just feels 'weird' to me, but with the drag brake turned up, things just feel right to me. Might just reduce it a little bit each week, get used to lower amounts of drag brake in stages, rather than going from 100% to 30%.

Mark,

I think Hobbywing wrote it somewhere in here, and I actually wrote it as notes on my printed pdf, just to have it with me... So...

Item 9: Actual timing: 0* = cooler, 21* = hotter
Item 13: Motor Speed (RPM): 3000 = hotter, 15000 = cooler
Item 15: Timing Punch (RPM/Degree): 200 = hotter, 1000 = cooler.

Edit: I have next to coolest settings for my bike and the motor runs at around 55-65*C after 7 minutes...
But... the bike, as noted earlier has different loads, gearing, weight etc than touring cars...
However, going towards the cooler settings worked for me...

If it was a Mamba Max speedo i could understand the 30% drag brake. But with the HW on FDR 7.32 with a 13.5T even 30% drag brake is to much.

Ive also found the HW has alot of drag brake. Even with my drag brake on 0% with a 17.5 tekin its almost the equivalent of some other brand ESC's set on 15%. I kept my drag brake at 0% which was perfect for my track and kept the motor a bit cooler because of this aswell

I ran the new turbo set up in my xerun 60 with a HW 13.5 in my TQ Racing SX10 2w this weekend for the first time. I used the recommended setting for a 13.5 and although I changed my gearing slight, I went a bit higher because its off road, it felt much quicker all around. I kind of compare it to when comm drops came out for brushed motors, but this was much more consistent.

I didn't notice any hearing issues, but this was off road so, it's a little different.

Nice improvement over stock set up, and I liked the stock set up.
