Yes. The crystals have to match - won't work if you mix manufacturers crystals.

you need to find out if the JR radio is positive or negative shift and get a reciever that that is the right shift, then just choose crystals and it should work.

i have an AE XP3D radio from an MGT that I wanted to use with my jr Radios RS310 recivers but my local hobby shop said the AE radio is not the correct shift to use with the JR recievers.

Good Luck.

TX and Rx crystals have to be from the same company. I tried mixing Futaba tx and Hitec rx crystals with a 75Mhz FM Futaba radio and hitec rx - didn't work. It worked when I used a Futaba tx and rx set of crystals. Should have worked with a matching set of Hitec's too.

JR radio is positive shift, I don't know about the DTX rcvr. You'll need to find out which signal shift it uses.

Futaba makes DTX radios, so you're SOL, wrong shift.
You'll need Airtronics or JR receivers, or a Novak XXtra which can do both depending on how you spin the dials.

The easiest way I know to explain shift, and it's probably wrong, is that in a positive shift system, the frequency goes up from baseline when operating, and negative goes down.

There's an ad in the FS section right now for an XXtra and RS310 for $50/both.

The nice thing is that you'll never had to buy another crystal for either one, as they're both synthesized.

You could convert your XS3 to 2.4ghz. It's pretty straight forward if you don't mind a bit of soldering. It will cost about USD$35 in parts, including a receiver. Additional receivers are USD$20.

There's a thread about it here. You'll find an XS3 at post #6.

Been using it since December and it hasn't skipped a beat.
