Default Novak Esc unsoldering?

I just bought a Novak esc pro and was wondering how to unsolder the wire tabs from teh esc. Might need new wiring due to my impatience. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm assuming you mean Havoc Pro. Desoldering the wires on Novaks ESCs takes a pretty high wattage soldering iron with a wide chisel tip. Once you get the solder melting, you should be able to pull the wire from the hole. To clean up the left-over solder, I like desoldering braid (also called solder wick).

Pre tinning the soldering iron tip, a small drop of solder on the tip just before touching the esc, will greatly help heat transfer. This will allow you to get the wire off easier/quicker with less heat transferred to the esc board.

Yea klaymon you assume correct. So just to clarify. I heat the solder then and when its molten I just yank teh wire out. So I never have to come in contact with the esc board it self right?

Oh man I wonder what awaits me when I get the new wires in

Thanks guys for the help so far.

You'll have contact with the board. There's no way around it really, but by having the soldering iron tip tinned and ready, you will limit the amount of time you are on it. Just flip the ESC upside down, put the tinned tip on the solder pad on the wire you are pulling and wait for it to melt. As soon as it puddles, pull the wire out and take the iron off. Repeat for all wires you want to remove.

Now you will likely have the holes in the board covered with solder after doing this, so that is where the desolder braid comes in. Again, lightly tin the tip of the iron. Keeping the ESC upside down and lay the braid across the solder pad. Put your iron on the braid like you are sandwiching it between the board and the iron tip. You should see the braid pulling in solder. Do this just until the hole is clear enough to get the new wire in.

Be careful with the yank, you don't want to splatter hot solder all over.

Take a look as this thread, it's kinda long but lots of good info and detail:

As far as locally, any electronic supply store should have it (Radio Shack doesn't qualify any more). If you can't find it locally, just Google "desoldering braid" and all kinds of online vendors will pop up.

Definitely read the link that Dave H posted up. Lots of good info there.
