Default Zippy Flightmax 5000mah 2S - issues

I purchased three of these lipos. Soldiered Dean's plugs on each of them. Hooked the first one up to the Lipo charger and started the cycle. Immediately heard a small buzz(like two live wires that touch) and the charger indicated no connection detected. Cannot get a connection detected. Second Lipo charged fine. Installed in SC10 and everything worked great. Took off on acceleration and the truck died. Same problem with this one now, no connection detected. Tried to discharge and same issue - no connection detected. Third one is fine through one cycle.

I can ship back to China for inspection but think that installing Deans plugs will void any return and really not worth the hassle.

Any suggestions.

Doesn't sound like there's any prob with your Deans work. And you're right, you've voided any warranty by changing the conns, so that would only be a waste of time and money.

Have you chaecked the voltage? Some chargers will give you that error for lipo when the voltage is below 3v/cell. Check the voltage across the main power leads and if its below 6, thats prob the issue. Check voltage on each cell using balance tap and see if both are low or is it just one cell thats low?

I just got two 3S lipos from them and one had a cell that was 0.28v and gave me similar error when I tried to charge it. I was able to save it by charging it as a NiMh at 0.1a (was only a 1600mah) until voltage was back up over 9v. Stopped the NiMh charge and tried lipo again and this time it charged fine.

Bet you're looking at similar prob.

That sucks, I try to stay away from products made in China. I bought a used SMC here and has worked great. Team Orion has a new lipo out that may cost alot but is well made.

Thanks for the posts. I tried everything posted and I think both of them are toast. I cannot get a connection detection on either the charge lead or the balancer. Lame.

Don't give up yet....These have no voltage at all??

These should have a small pcb inside where the cells are series connected together and where balance wires originate. There have been issues with the connections on that board or with traces between connections. Carefully open the wired end up and start tracing back looking for voltage. When you find voltage, work back and isolate where the open circuit occurs.

Depending on what it is, you should be able to fix it.

Everyone buying these, check voltage immediately when you open box! If thera are probs, anything you do beyond sending them back basically voids any warranty....

That's interesting cuz that's right where I heard the buzz noise on the initial connection charge. I'll do what you suggested.

Thanks.
