Default upgraded my 3pk battery

So i have been having some problems with my 3pk tx pack dieing on me if i let it sit for like 2 days.
the pack that was in there was a 2500 8c AA pack.
i decided to make a new pack last night.

a 1500 8c 2/3a pack
here is the write up..

First up is the old pack
the AA pack seems to die often and not last long.

here is the new pack i made last night..
i took a thin piece of cardboard and double side taped the new 8cell for perfect front to back balance of 3x2x3 cells

here is new pack infront of the old pack.

side by side to show the thickness of the packs
the new pack is only a little thicker then the old one.

all tucked away in the 3pk
(screw driver is only holding them in for the pic)

IT WORKS!!
this battery should last a little longer even though its less mah

on the charger charging at 1.5 amps instead of 100 mah.

Default 3PK battery configuration

If you had to do another pack in the future, I'd do it with 9 AA cells. 9 will fit if configured as below. The extra voltage will help with the run time and it looks like your charger can charge it. I've never thought of using 2/3A cells, so in theory, you could do 10 2/3A cells. Hope this helps

l have room if i more the cells around a bit.. i would have to pick up some shrink wrap though..
so far so good i have been messing with the radio for about an hour after a full charge it read out 11.5 right now its reading 11.0

its more steady too with the AA pack the thing would drop from 11.5 down to 10.5 as soon as i would turn it on.
i just think the pack is dieing.

I put a True RC 3S 2600mah LiPo pack in there. Lasts for the whole weekend of racing and beyond before needing a charge, about 8 hours.

smokinu - you do know that the time is resetable on the 3PK, just press the + and - buttons and hold for 2-4 seconds and it resets to zero.

so far so good ill peak it off tonight before i go racing tomorrow and see what it ends up after a day of racing! ill see if i will have to recharge it.

its been sitting pretty much since i started this thread and its not dieing...
a sure fact that my AA pack was! as it would drain almost over nite.

Ebay has 2200 3 cell lipo's for Futaba or JR style radio's for 15$ w/Free shipping....hardly worth messing with cell's when you can run for Hours and Hours on lipo power.

i got a 3300 protek that has run time claims at 18+hours.

Thats the same one I use in my 3PK and 3PJS. That 18hrs most be some high drain operation or something, mine seem to last a lot lot lot longer than that.

I rarely let it get past 10.5v and ill charge it back up and it Might take 1300-1500mah....i don't Doubt the run time is way longer then 18hrs.

you have to do what you have to do when you have no cash to spend extra on toy cars and parts.

although i think the radio droped a little weight as well it feels a bit lighter and a little more balanced in my hand.

protek has a great lipos i am not liking the price though ill look into that ebay lipo since its not a high drain area of concern..

i run lipo in the car why not the radio! lol
its getting there but i had to do something to hold me over while i save a bit more cash after the holidays.

so far it looks like this pack will last a good 8 to 10 hours

i know my 2200 rx pack will last about 3 hours in a truggy.
