Default Reedy 5000 2s packs... Leads ONLY for charging??

See bottom for cliff notes....

"Each battery comes with a charging harness that incorporates a balance connector for balance charging. "

A friend of mine had problems with his case and lead melting which appears to have been caused by the lead.

HE called reedy (may i mention he bought 4 of these batteries brand new recently) and the did not want to help him at all.

So he took the pack to my good friend and shop owner and had him call. They once again did not want to do anything for the lead provided is for CHARGING ONLY... I will admit that is stated BUT NOT VERY CLEAR ITS ONLY for that use.

They talked him into letting him send it in.

$6 shipping to

THEY call, they want $90 to replace the case and $9 for return shipping. The battery is fine just the case and lead is messed up "supposedly"

So WHO else here knew you cant use that lead to run a vehicle?? Personally Customer service is my #1 priority as long as the product functions decently.

I have ALWAYS loved the customer service with companies i have dealt with and this is unacceptable.
Spektrum
TEKIN---OH YAH
Futaba (the only servo's in my cars)
Pro Match
Hot bodies

ALLL great customer service.

Anyone else have these issues with these packs or Reedy themselves?? Any input positive or negative is fully accepted. I just feel bad for the guy trying to get into 8th scale E racing on a limited budget but understands the need for a good product, I myself and he, and probably the rest of our club will not purchase from them again.

-battery case and lead melts
-Rep wont help customer
-customer goes to shop
-rep wont help shop
----Reason... he used the included lead to run the vehicle its only for charging----
-Rep allows battery to be sent in
-rep wants $90 to replace case $9 for return shipping
-Customer, shop, and all in our small racing club very upset with the lack of support on a VERY unclear in my eyes subject.

My brother runs 5000 reedy never had a problem.....you said eighth scale.......maybe you pulled too many amps through???? esc ok??? You only run 1 battery with eighth scale electric? I see it did say for charging only, my brother bought his used and he uses the same harness to run, but we drive tenth scale. I bet because the bullets arent solid going into the battery(the 'charging' ones) it creates too much resistance rather than solid bullets, not to mention the amps you pull with them giant eighth scale motors. Combination of them both; sorry to hear about your customer service, that sucks. You live ya learn, it's not a cheap hobby, it sucks you in like a black hole!!!!

The Bullet Connector is the same style as all the other 4mm that I have used.

The manual does not specify not to use it for 'use' or 'discharging'.

It simply says use the 'incuded adapter for Charging the battery'.

I have spoken with probably the same guy, and he was a real Prick to be nice.

I definitely have a bad taste with Associated/LRP lately.

I definitely won't be recommending any Reedy products to anyone I like
