Probably all of the above. Since they have competition these days. Or... they might be doing something like integrated telemetry... *shrug* in any case, hopefully they aren't going to screw over the tracks having to buy a whole new system to support it.

.anyone know when available ????...how much????.........don't think they would make a new transponder that would not work with the older systems that tracks already have.........

Lightbulb MyLaps

Probably.... operating voltage... this has been a problem for some time. Next would be a smaller lighter package...

There is a thread with pictures of it in the electric on-road section.

A potentially unreliable source told me that the new AMB's would only work on the v3 systems and was trying to get me to sell mine before this announcement.

I honestly can't believe that though, don't think about the tracks that AMB would be pissing off but think about the number of people with AMB PT's out there. I have 6 myself, and my local track doesn't have house transponders at all anymore so each racer has 1 to 6 here not to mention all across the country where many drivers run multiple cars.

How many AMB PT's would be worthless? 10,000? more? I believe the entire community would run current AMB decoders until they died and AMB wouldn't support them and MRT's exclusively along with the remaining AMB PT's.

It has to be an optional upgrade as stated above, like the lower voltage for the 1 cell lipo users.

Brian, if you read the thread in the on-road forum.. he stated that it was tested at a track with an AMBrc decoder. He also said he had 2 PT's on the car, one old and one new.... Car in the test above

Like I said, potentially unreliable. I still don't see the new PT's as a threat to the market in that case. If they price them closer to MRT then perhaps, my next transponder was going to be from MRT although all 6 of my current are AMB but if AMB will come close to the price and be the same size, sure I will stick with AMB.. I have an AMB in my real car that I track too except it's huge.
