$200 for the esc alone? So I take it this is going to be your top of the line model then, competing with the rs pro and lrp comps.

Looks interesting. But unless it provides some unseen boost over the Tekins I currently own, with either the speedo itself or the software, I don't see myself changing.

Our new Kinetic/Ballistic press release (PDF) was uploaded by RCCA for those of you who want to read all the information. (I probably should not post the link.) We haven't added the PR to our web site yet, but when we do I will add the link.

The $200 is the @ esc price; system "street price" should be @$280. The Kinetic is our new racing controller and I do not yet have an projected ship date. We include all the components needed for competitive racing for this price---heat sink, cooling fan and transcap module. Racers do not need to purchase these items separately.

The Kinetic is only half of our upcoming racing system; the other half is our new Ballistic motor, which (by itself) offers more features than other BL motors. Whether or not the Kinetic/Ballistic systems will meet, or exceed, expectations compared to other available products, we leave that to customers to decide.

I think the bigger question is will this new system work with all the other ROAR approved motors currently on the market. This is a sticking point for the Havoc at our local track, and will be a sticking point for people that race in spec'd or handout motor classes (I.E. IIC amatuer 17.5 Rubber for the past 2 years).

The Kinetic will operate all ROAR-approved, sensored 540 motors. The software will include a "toggle" for those users who wish to activate the motor overheating protection (out of concern for burning up motors). But, the Kinetic is a racing controller compatible with all the motors.

Overheated motors/demagnetized rotors can ruin controllers; so with our affordable Havoc 1S, 2S and 3S controllers, we incorporated the motor protection software. Other motor companies could easily include the components necessary to protect their motors, but choose not to do so.

Some users appreciate this system protection from overheating, because they race on a budget and cannot afford to replace burnt-up electronics.

Im guessing the software is updateable...does it recharge the battery under braking?

The software is update-able and share-able and specific settings are store-able. I have not heard anything about battery recharging.

You have a temp sensor built into the ballistic motors?

mind elaborating a bit more on Dynamic Timing Advance ?...or will that encroach into business/technical confidentiality?

how is it different from that of LRP's, Tekin's, TeamWave's, Orca's turbo/boost function?

thanks

All of our BL motors have the temperature sensing component built into the motor's sensor board. When used with certain Novak controllers with the "Blue wire" software enabled, the esc shuts down the motor before it overheats.

We will be adding additional information about the different programming features at a later date.

well hopefully the dynamic timing can be adjusted via the speedo so you wont need to drag a laptop to the track like with the tekins.

The major Kinetic software adjustments will be accessible with our One Touch set-up. Many users may not even want the NovaLink PC software option.

Will the new Novak Kinetic work with a 1 cell Li-Po battery 3.7 volts? I hope it does so we can use it for 1/12 scale. Thanks Chuck

All of our escs work on 1S (4 NiMH). We will probably offer an optional cooling plate for the Kinetic, similar to our earlier GTB 4-Cell (NiMH) controller.
