Default LiPo vz LiFe

I was just browsing maxamps web site and found LiFe batteries. The seem to have the benifts of LiPo but without the limitations. No need for cut off, you can charge them faster and apparently the have a better life span then LiPo. Just wondering if any one has tried them, and what do uouh guys think? Are they going to replace LiPo?

These are just re-packaged a123s cells. They'll not be replacing lipo anytime soon, they are lower voltage and weigh more than lipo, same disadvantages they've always had.

I have 2 sets of 4600 30c. The disadvantage is the lower voltage 6.6v vs 7.4.

They will make great rx packs soon though! Perfect voltage to run with no regulator and killer runtime.

I use A123/LiFe for my rx packs with no regulator and they work great. I'm still amazed at how long the 1100mah 2 cell pack lasts. The discharge curve is really flat. It drops to roughly 6V quickly and then it basically stays at 6V till the pack is drained.

I have a friend that tried to use the larger A123 packs for 1/8th off-road and they didn't hold up well. They worked great for about 3 minutes and then they were done. Not sure if it was just the packs he had or what but he switched to LiPo and is running great now.
