Default spread spectrum transmitter reciever

Just got a m11 with ther spectrum system. My friend tells me that the signal goes to the car via the ground, and i don't really need a long attena (i think they are very ugly)

Is this true???

Oh, i know there is a electronics section, but it might be till tomorrow till i get a answer. Besides this is nitro off road

The spectrum receivers can be cut to a 3" minimum according to the paperwork. Im sure its the same for the other dsm systems also.

I wouldn't cut your antenna unless you want to have issues with range. And you don't want to cut DSM2 receiver antennas at all. I ran a DSM reciever antenna coiled up in the receiver box and had no problems on a small track. My first lap on a bigger track quickly proved to me that I needed that antenna up in the air. I put it back up in the air and solved all of my glitching problems.

Your signal travels through the air just like any radio wave.....

i highly suggest you use the antenna if you want optimal performance from your radio. all rf signals are transmitted in the air (not the ground), regardless of the modulation or transmission technology that it uses. the newest radios that operate in the 2.4Ghz use spread spectrum technology to minimize interference, jamming, etc but it doesn't necessarily boost transmission power. so yes, please use your antenna.

dont cut them all the way off. they have to be 3" minimum but the longer the better of course. This thread is about him wanting to shorten his and he can if he wants to.

I've read that about spektrum recievers, but not airtronics, and by the way, I read 3.6" as the cut down length as stated here:

dreaux What reciever are you using?

Reviving an old(er) thread here. I'm about to do this mod as the antennae on the SR3000 receiver I got 2nd hand is already damaged.

At the risk of sounding ignorant tho: What does 3.6" mean?

I know it means Inches but the increments are in lots of 4.

So does it mean "3 and 6"? Meaning: three inches and 6 increments?

Or do I really have to try and figure out 5 into 4? OR 4 into 5

I'm pretty confused at this point and am just going to do the former and hope for the best.

It'd be interesting to know if I'm wrong tho. thanks

Yes you are wrong.

3.6" means 3 inches and 6 tenths of an inch or 3" plus 6/10" or 3" plus 3/5".

Are you metric? Then it's 9.144cm or 91.44mm or 0.09144m

thanks that's handy. It only just occurred to me that all i had to do was convert 3.6" to metric and it would have been fine.

WHy do the increments occur in 4s? That's really confusing

Incidentally, I cut the antenna somewhere between what i believed to be 3.5" and 3.75" so hopefully that should work.

Been experiencing a lot of glitching of late. Hopefully that was because of all the sand in it
