Default LiPo Balance charging with the LRP Pulsar Competition 3 Charger ?

I've invested in some Orion / Tekin / Trakpower LiPos, a LRP Pulsar Comp. 3 charger and a Trakpower and Checkpoint balancer.

I've read about pass through balance charging, but that's going to be hard to do as both the Checkpoint and Trakpower balancers, and the LRP charger (if you unplug the aligator clips), have 4mm plugs, and there's no socket to plug any balancers in the LRP charger.

To try and get around this problem, I was considering using a female Corally plug as a "bridge" / adaptor and pluging both the charger and balancer leads halfway into the female Corally plug.

Do you guys think that'll work ? Let me know if anyone has any other ideas.

That would work. You'd have to keep them from shorting out on each other though. You could also just make an adapter or clip onto the balancer plugs with the aligator clips.

why don't you just discharge balance them. I use 2 pulsar 3's and with the orions they really don't go out of balance.

It's not as critical with 2s lipo's.

Thanks guys.

I charged my Trakpower saddles last night using the Pulsar 3 - hooked up to a Checkpoint and Trakpower balancer (not at the same time !) just by hooking it up with the alligator clip.....it worked fine.

I got my first r/c car in 1986 and have always used sub C "torch batteries", so it was a little strange watching the charging amps drop to just 0.17 amps before the batts peaked, and taking cold batteries off charge

Btw, the Checkpoint balancer is much easier to use and user friendly than the Trakpower balancer. Setting the "charge through" setting on the Checkpoint is a simple push button operation compared to the Trakpower, which is a little confusing at first. Both work very well, however.

I also use a pulsar 3 and some trakpower saddle pack.

I never balance them. there a about 20 charges.
I think I need to buy a balancer, I was thinking of the trakpower
but you say that the checkpoint is better?

Did you see a difference between balancing or not your batteries?
Do you sell the trackpower balancer?

I don't think there's a difference in performance or effectiveness between the two balancers - the Checkpoint is just a little easier and intuitive to use.

I don't intend to sell the Trakpower balancer.

I ordered a Pulsar 3 and it's on its way...

I'm a little new to this LiPo charging and balancing deal, can someone draw a connection diagram of how the balancing works?

I guess my question is, how can the balancer balance multiple cells with two connections - One red (+) and black (-)? Are there some break-out wires that come out between the cells on LiPo packs? I didn't see any on cells like the Trakpower saddles or anything.

A diagram of the discharge balancing and/or charge balancing with the Pulsar 3, a typical LiPo pack, and Team Checkpoint Balancer would be much appreciated...

I charge with pulsar3 and trakpower balancer.
I never get the green ligth with the balancer it cut before.

After a complete charge with a 4800 saddle from lrp, the pack took
765mah more with a ultramate 14.

It seems that it have a safety of 15% before full charge.
The pulsar3 charge only to 90% of lipo?

I found my solution.

I had to set voltage calibration mode on my pulsar3. (In manual part 9)

I had so much difference that my lipo stopped charging before 8.4.
That was the reason why I had my lipos charged to 75% only.
