Default MX3-FHSS receiver Question

Is airtronics the only maker of receivers that work with an MX3-FHSS?

$90 for a receiver is WAY too steep for me. Honestly, its the only reason i havnt gone 2.4 and MX-3FHSS is the only system that would get me to switch over. Ive been able to get away with my current mx-3 due to other brands like hitec selling receivers that are compatible for like $30 and were half the size of the aitronics ones, is there nothing like that for FHSS receivers?

This is the problem I find with all the DSS type systems. The receivers are all 100 bucks or so. I decided to go back to 75 band setups with synthesized receivers as they are less 65 each.

I find it funny that you can spend 50 bucks on a airplane Spektrum receiver but it is 100 bucks for the car version. All the other companies out like Futaba, Airtronics, and Ko the DSS receivers are 100 bucks.

Your stuck using just the Airtronics receiver for that radio.

I was considering to go with the FHSS Airtronics system (they are a steal at $150), but after reading this thread and realizing that subsequent receivers will cost this much, I think I'm going to stick with my current radio, the MX-3S.

But thanks to everyone at my track having the 2.4GHz systems, the 75MHz band is wide open!
