Why is Mini Z AM Frequency special? Help!
I am looking at an AM module for my m8 radio, however I notice it is only for Mini-Z's.
Can some one pretty please explain why the Mini-Z AM frequency or the Mini Z cars themselves are so special that the module only works for mini-z's and nothing else?
Or is it something like specific limits in the hardware (car's capabilities etc) rather than the frequency itself?

I have the AM M8 Mini-Z module and I know it works flawlessly with my Mini-z MR-01. However, I have not tried using it with any other AM system.
Have you tried swapping crystal sets? Also, do you have any mini-z AM crystals and have you tried them in non-mini-z receivers?

Hi rcjunkie,
No, sorry, I don't have the module yet.
What I need to know is if you can use it with other AM systems, and, mor importantly, if you can't use it in other AM systems/receiver combo's, exactly why not?
Thank you very much for letting me know it works well for Mini Z. Maybe you could do a little r&d with other systems?

You may be able to use it with other systems if the other systems were in the same AM band i.e. 27Mhz. You would need that other system's receiver and insert the Mini-Z crystal in it. It uses normal AM crystals so theoretically it should work. I don't have any other AM receivers around to test it with. I only have FM and 2.4GHz.
Also, I am debating getting that new Kyosho 2.4GHz Dnano and the newer 2.4GHz Mini-Z. KO Propo makes a 2.4GHz Kyosho module for both of them. You may someday want to look at the KO Propo Helios OR KO Propo EX-1 if you ever get one of those newer Mini-Z's. Right now prices are a bit high but I've been watching them on Youtube. I better stop, the more I watch the more I want one.

I can t find AM module for my m8 radio.
I am running a Spektrum module in for my 1/10 buggy.
Will a 2.4 miniZ will work with it or the 2.4 in the newer miniZ is specific
for kyosho?

Where can I find an 27AM module for Airtronics/Sanwa?
They are not making them anymore.

The Airtronics 27MHz AM module for Mini-Z should work for most other 27MHz AM receivers as well. I use my KO 27MHz AM module with other 27MHz AM cars such as Micro-T etc.
As for the 2.4GHz, here is a link to an article on our site that describes how to modify the KO 2.4GHz module for a Futaba 3PK.

Within a week, we are also expecting a board that will allow for the module to be adapted to the M8 and M11.
