Would be better if guys would just buy the right motors for the equipment they own.

R/C stuff only works if you use it properly no matter what the product is. Besides if you want to run sensored with the Castle speedo then wait for the new speedo to come out as it will run sensored/sensorless as it will have a slot to plug in your sensored motors.

I also see Orion has 2 different lines of Sensorless only motors so even Orion knows how many guys have sensorless systems from Tekin, Castle, Quark, and some others. Must be lots and Orion wants some of that money.

anybody can give a starting point to gear a 4.0? large indoor asphalt track... average lap times are 12-13sec for mod.

WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY. I AM NOW STUCK WITH A BRAND NEW MOTOR THAT WONT WORK WITH MY ESC. IF ANYBODY WANTS TO BUY IT JUST LET ME KNOW. I HAVE NO USE FOR IT.
Im using a 7.5 (older) with my MM, no cogging, no hesitation. Im about to grab a new 08 7.5 aswell. Try adjusting the throttle curve, start power, punch control, just fiddle around with it until you find a happy medium, which you will. If your using connectors for the motor, dice them for either the CC bullets or hardwire it straight to the controller. try different wire combos aswell.

Dont forget, Orion states these motors work with sensored & Sensorless controllers...

I've been pretty happy with my Orion 7.5 so far.
They dont have the fan for one thing. And the powerband seems to be WAY smoother.

The length is at least a few millimeters shorter and the weight is 10g lighter - so these motors should offer pretty good car balance. Also, there is a trick little fan at the end of the rotor that is only the diameter of the magnet (not a huge fan like in the gen1 motors). I look forward to seeing how they run this weekend!

We're trying to figure out the difference between the "stock" and "race" versions...the rotors are actually the same diameter @ 12.3mm.
Has anybody used 12awg with them? did they fit through the solder tab holes easily??

Any more pictures or info on the ESC's, please? Do they have fans on the ESC? Both the sensored and SL? Size/Dimensions?

The only real info available is whats on the Orion website. In the Cad drawings, there is a fan shown on top of the ESC.

Testing is still be done outside the US. Hopefully there might be one or two at the ROAR off road Nats for some final testing.

As far as availability, I believe end of August is the target date assuming everything is a go. I was hoping to get to try one at the Nats, but was told we wont be seeing them before then.

What else is there to be known about the speedo? I mean, hasnt it been known for a long time that its just going to be another re-badged Hobbywing EXACTLY like the Speed Passion GT? Unless something has changed that I havent heard about?

If it is, I'm sure that Orion is doing plenty of testing to be sure that it meets or surpasses its expectations for the product. They arent going to put their name on it until they think its ready. Plus, I'm sure some things like programming and minor tuning will be changed. And with Oscar Jansen behind and doing alot of the testing, it'll be right before it'll be released.

Thanks guys.
I have only seen this one picture in their press pdf: http://press.teamorion.com/catalog/catalog_08.pdf

I didn't know it would be similar to the SP GT, the GT doesn't come with a fan, does it? Anyways, do you think the Orion ESCs will be programmed using the same gizmo as the one the Speed Passion uses?

Edit: Googled a bit more, and found the answer to my question above is yes, partno: ORI65020 will probably be the programmer.

And I also found this thread with some private pictures from a hands on test: http://translate.google.com/translat...F8&sl=fr&tl=en
