Since i got my new replacement. i ran nihm for a few more months and have been on lipo since the spring. im not using discharge anymore as im enjoying the lazy lipo lifestyle

charging at 8amp in my 5000smc lipo and happy. I went to brushless too so no more motor running... Funny how things change. now this charger is way over kill for what i need

Well, ANOTHER testimony as to why we should support our local hobby shops. I get almost all of my stuff from Hot Rod Hobbies here in Santa Clarita. During the Shootout, my charger went "POOF". I talked to Tim at the shop and he ordered a couple of them. They arrived in a couple of days and he simply replaced the one I had with a new one and he sent the other one in for me.

Kudos to my local store. I will continue to support them and do not mind at all if I pay a couple more bucks for a part. All in all, what they do is priceless.

Been out of the RC scene for a longtime, running a Traxxas Slash 4x4 with the brushless Veliniom, mostly Venom 7 cell 4200 batts. Can somone help me out with a good charging profile? Nothing to wild, just running at a local practice track right now

Setup for NiMh, 7 cells with capacity set at 4200mah. Charge at 4.2amps, discharge at 4.2amps (won't really use this unless cycling - I try to discharge in the RC prior to charging), set peak sensitivity 3 - 5mv/cell, discharge volts at 0.9v/cell, set trickle current to 200ma, cutoff temp - I don't use this, the measuremant lags too far behind what an IR gun reads for it to be effective - if you use it, set at least 15-20F lower than the real peak temp (125-130F).

I keep the max charge capacity set at 115% - but this is mostly a safety thing as it terminates the charge if the charger sees no peak - I've not run into this. About the only other thing I set on mine is the peak delay - this tells charger to ignore apparent 'peaks' in first X minutes - try 5min, if you have probs with false peaks, try increasing this. Top off charge, I keep same as the trickle charge, 200ma.

Recently picked up one of these chargers, a TC Balancer, and 2 Duratrax 7,4v 5400 liops. I balanced the lipos and have them charging at 5.4 amps but towards 4000mah they start to drop down on the amps they are charging. Is that normal? Any tips?

Have you got the mah set correctly on the charger ? It should drop as they get to 8.4v though, that's normal

What you'e seeing is the lipo charge process - lipo charges at Constant Current (CC) until the cells reach max voltage of 4.2v/cell (this is the 1C charge rate or a multiple), then it charges at Constant Voltage (CV) and you'll see the current fall as the lipo tops off. You see lipo chargers listed as CC/CV type chargers.

Some chargers have a fast lipo mode and this just eliminates the CV step to save time. It doen't fully charge the lipo however, giving you a 85-90% charge.

I own 4 of these chargers and they work great! I noticed something on the power up screen tho. What's the difference between v1.0 and version 2.0, and how can I get my chargers updated? Any info will help.

Mines a V2, but I don't know what the diff is. My manual doesn't say anything version wise at all. If you can't find out here, could email Hobbico and ask them.

I've never heard these could be updated.

Will this charger charge at more than 1C?

Yes, up to its 10amp max charge rate.

If you have a 6000mah lipo it will not charge at higher than 10amps (~1.7C).
