Default Savöx 1258tg glitch problems.

I bought a new 1258tg in October for use in my 1:10 buggy.
It worked with no problems at all for about 2 months.
After that I would loose steering after landing from a jump.
This would happen maybe every 20th time I jumped.
I put on a glitchbuster on my receiver - no difference.
I bought a new radio system - no difference.
I bought a new esc - nope, didn't help neither.
Finally I went to my lhs and changed the servo to a new one( warranty),
ah, finally I can run without issues..

Until this weekend, having the same problem as I had before with the other servo.
I only loose steering after landing, also jumping small jumps.
Usually I release the throttle when in air in a jump -> I land -> I loose steering.
Has anyone experienced same thing?
(I´m having same issue with 2 different radios/esc:s now..)

I´m using:
Futaba 3PV
Hw v3.1

I’ve had quite a few of the cheap savox servos fail. Especially the coreless motor servos like the 1258. My guess is the motor has been damaged when jumping and is causing this lack of power on landing. The brushless versions are much better albeit more expensive but much more reliable.

Ok first servo lasted 2 months. You made replacements surrounding the servo electrically
Then replaced servo again. Then later it happened again.

Sounds like the landings are being absorbed by the servo directly.

I guess no servo saver?

Thats right, nothing that could be called a servo saver (B6).
Yes, the first time I changed all electronics(was going to do a upgrade anyways), and still had the glitch, it was the servo that was damaged.
Now after using the new servo for ~6 weeks I get the same problem, but the funny thing is that I seem to be the only one that breaks servos? Can´t be the only one in the club to do bad servo-breaking-landings?
My lhs said I´m the only one with 1258tg-problems.

Any chance your wiring is extra tight around the Rx? I wonder if the connectors are getting loose over time if hard landings are causing them to wiggle/loosen around the 3 prong pins. I had this happen to me once so I simply put a little slack so no stress was on the connectors and problem never came back (after replacing the loose connector).

No, the wiring is loose all the way to the receiver, have also checked the contacts, everything is ok.

The only place where the wire has a tight place is by the servo, but there is no flex, no movement there.
(not my car in the picture)
The wire/contact doesn´t have enough free space there, it´s forced to bend down a bit.

My tc4’s are bent over worse than that and been hit in that same spot as well.

The only thing I can think of.. well actually two

1) your hobby got bad batches since it’s back to back issue

2) you are landing hardest right where the servo sits and the chassis is slapping the servo

I personally like 1258’s cause it has the right amount of tq/speed to move around a track

hmm, that looks like a normal setup to me, I would try a different brand of servo then, sometimes I've seen incompatibilities with ESC'-> Servo but I've never heard of HobbyWing ever having any problems with Savox... only other guess could be some weird latency setting on your radio, I'm not familiar with Futaba, but I had a Radiopost once where there were 3 settings for latency and sometimes you needed to go with a lower resolution to get some servos to work properly, maybe check to see if there is anything like that on your radio?

Just curious, what surface are you driving on? I have a 1258 on my SC10 and a 1257 on my B5M, never had problems with either. Lower-traction tracks though, I suppose if you race on turf/carpet and land with tires that aren't pointing straight ahead a lot, that could cause problems - not that I'd have heard of problems with these particular servos personally.

Also, how long does that lack of steering last?

I'm still using my 1258 in my truck for racing that I've had for 5 years.

Carpet on concrete, so it's the hardest possible surface.
I often/always turn left/right while in air, to turn fastest possible after landing. Maybe it's not good to land like that?
When the glitching, it lasts for 0.5 seconds or less.
I used a another servo last night, total runtime maybe 1 hour, not a single glitch.
I guess I'll just go with that another servo.

you need to do some trimming to that front support and add a servo saver..
