Default iCharger or what to buy?

I would like to get an iCharger 4010 duo, but also found many people are selling those.

What do people use?

What are they switching to after they sold their iChargers?

People sell stuff for all kinds of reasons. I don't really look at that as a reason not to buy something..

I have the Icharger 406duo (the one just below the 4010) and I totally love it. Can update software over USB or sdcard. Can save logs to sdcard. Supports logview (have to connect to PC). I guess it would depend on what you really need. But I only use 2S batteries so the 406 is more than what I need. Can do up to 40 amps on each channel (I've only used half of this) or 70 combined in sync mode. Has options for testing servos. Temp sensor input (sensors sold separately). With the newest update (v2.18) it has a program specific for lihv. Will also charge standard lipo, life, nicad/nimh. Can setup custom charge profiles on a per battery basis. Standard discharge is kinda weak at only 10amps. But motiv and r1wurks both have a discharger that plugs into the 2nd output that bumps that up considerably. I was kind nda reluctant to spend $300 on a charger plus still have to buy a power supply but I'm glad I did and have no regrets. Also for a good power supply I'd go to rcjuice.com I got mine from there. 85amp/1080 watts for like $60. You don't need one that large but it's a good deal and is also nice knowing you have some cusion there if you need to run another DC accessory.

I have icharger 408 i really so far. If you charge only up to 3S lipo battery icharger 308 is enough power.

I charge 4S on my 206 just fine. It is very powerful and quick. I use a HP 750 computer power supply and can charge up to 20 amps.

308 will do any battery also. Charge rate is just to 30A. I do my 4cl with my 308 no problems.

I also have the 406DUO. It is an epic charger. The 4010DUO is just so heavy and large that when travelling to races where space/weight is at a premium the 4010 isn't justifiable. The 406DUO has way enough power for 99.9% of applications.

The only difference being that the 406 Duo can "only" charge up to 6S (which occasionally really happens for some people with RC cars) while the 4010 Duo can charge 10S (which is virtually non-existent for RC cars, this is more like boat/plane/helicopter stuff), IMO there is pretty much zero reason to get the 4010 over the 406, as long as you're dealing with RC cars only. And most people (including myself) don't even come close to using the full potential of even the 406 Duo - but it's still a superb charger, and can do whatever I can imagine to want, as long as I stick to cars.

Thank you all. I ordered a 406 instead of the 4010.
Thanks!

The 406 is an amazing charger. I think you'll be very happy with it. You might be surprised how compact it is. I was expecting it to be a little larger. But it's actually quite small. My main gripe is that the fans are rather loud when they get going. They are temperature controlled though thank fully. And mine rarely come on unless running a discharge cycle. You'll definitely know when they come on though. It's just an effect of the type of fan they used. Very small very high rpm fans are always really loud. They remind me of the delta PC fans. There is also a software update that you might want to run. Chances are your charger won't have it yet...mine didn't and I just got mine a few months ago. The software update is from 2016 it's v2.18. if you use lihv packs I'd definitely run that update as it adds a profile specifically for lihv. Aside from that though I don't think it adds or fixes anything else...the main purpose is to add the lihv profile.

Actually my main concern is the durability because I have heard a lot of failure and broke down icharger cases. Anyway, seems like I am receiving mine today.

Amain has the motiv one. It's a 40amp. It works pretty well. Has two sets of leads. One set plugs into channel 2 on your Icharger and the other set plugs into your power supply. They are around $80 I believe when I got mine. There are other options out there as well and some that I'm sure are cheaper. R1WURKS also has a discharge bank but I think it's even more expensive.
