HELLO I am planing on opening a track in the vandalia area three minutes off 70 north of dayton the track will have well stocked shop with indoor 50x100 offroad and 40 x 65 carpet or asphalt track fo Tc and 1/12th scale I know there alot of racers in this area looking for a home please post any comments concerns or questions. feel free to email me at warrencoun@aol.com
Did ever used to race at Benny's place? There are ton of on-road carpet racers in the Dayton area, but I can tell ya that a 60x45 is pretty small. Extend it 20 feet and you'll be dialed (80x45).
We are all racing down at Ultra in Cincy right now. Very nice place and the owners are great. Might make for tough competition, but I am sure you can get racers in there.
heck yeah, you might see me in there a couple times. I live in West Chester, OH which really isnt that far away, but still it is far for me. but i will be there.
Count me in, I'd love to see a track in Dayton again.
I do both offroad and carpet, but I will have to agree with Fleetwood the size of the carpet seems pretty small, but any track would be a great assett to the area. We need a dirt track in this area too.
Although I love Ultra raceway, and I would never have anything bad to say about the track, hobbyshop, or racers, BUT I drive 1.5 hours to get there. Living north of dayton, a track in vandailia would be sweet. Count me in. I also know of another racer in my area that would get back into racing if a track closer to our area (piqua) would open up.
The size of the track is adjustable, but i want to have plenty of pit space. I race at CRCRC and this building will also have a offroad track any suggestions would be great. I hope running the two different tracks is a well accepted idea. I think we can all see a one stop shop kind of place will have a much better chance at survival.
you guys tell me what is Ideal size? what about indoor asphalt? how much is the good carpet? PS Mel and those of you who know me, I've tried carpet but for some reason big hunks of rubber always come of my tires. So I'll stick to dirt or running the races.
I hope that the indorr offroad and the carpet won't be in the same building or next to each other. I would hate to see how dirty the carpet would be when the the dirt and dust from the off road got in the carpet. Having two tracks sounds like a good idea but you have to remember how having both surfaces will affect one another. Now, if they are seperated from each other as to where the dust from the dirt doesn't get on the carpet then it sounds like a great idea. There are many racers in the area and many drivers drive to Cincinnati from well north of the area and I'm sure they would rather drive less to have the same fun.
I also think offroad, onroad in same shop would be a good idea for the area. I don't know how many offroaders are in the dayton area, but i know alot of people would probably like to try offroad without driving to columbus. Also I personally want carpet. I think 1/12 and touring car would be the strongest classes for a track in dayton. The shop has to support the track, not the track support the shop. Look at crossroads, the racers supported the shop. The shop had only limited parts to fix some cars, no radios or major gear so that someone could come in and buy enough gear to start racing the next week. If you look at Ultra, they got it all. Not just racer stuff, but all the kits someone would want. Whether they are planning on racing or just playing. I really hope something pans out in the dayton area.
Sigear had a good point about the dust effecting the carpet. I don't know about that one? Maybe check online for other hobbyshops that have the same setup. (dirt&carpet) And see how it works for them.
Big Daddy why don't you come to Memphis and open an indoor track? We have like 20-30 racers show up every other week for local p/l racing and everyone would love to have a permanent facility to race at- especially carpet. Not only that, but our LHS doesn't support the club, and it's always been understood that if a HS opens that supports the club or even has it's OWN track, we would all support it back in return 100% (or as much as possible).
