Not one, but seven, in no particular order:
* Troy Crabtree. Guy came back year after year after year, always a top finisher but never the overall winner. Until 2004. Great driver, super nice guy, drives a yellow truck. What more could you want?
* Marty Hagman. Someone who's been a contender since the first time he hit the Tamiya track, even though he doesn't run there but once or twice a year. F1, sedan, GT1, GT2, Rally, you name it. I watched him win rally overall and qualify third in GT2 at the 2003 Regional race at Aliso...running the same car...just switching tires and shocks and the body...and it was a TA-03R! Has an engineering-level understanding of how stuff works, is a great father, and drives a hemi powered wagon.
* Gary Katzer. Once you get past the fact that he doesn't like mayo

, a hyper-competitive and focused driver who almost took it all home in F1 in 2001 and has since concentrated on the sedan stuff. Year after year, race after race, Katzer is either in the hunt or he's broken. No middle ground, and I mean that in a good way. Heck of a writer, too.
* The brothers Hickman, Steve and Bruce. Look in the dictionary under "Tamiya F201", and you'll find their picture. Bruce took it all home in 1998, while Steve just gets better year after year. It would be hard to find an F1 tuner who pays more attention to chassis setup than Steve or Bruce. Thank goodness they don't run in my class.
* Lee and his father Don. Don's a great mechanic and Lee is an intense driver. Nice people, but like I said, intense. Some of the best racing I've ever witnessed has involved Lee chasing down or staying just in front of another great driver.
Geez, do I have to end at only seven? How about MoshMike, Dish, Raymond Flores, Eeyan, Ling, Berger, Scotty, Fred Medel, Craig Richter, Casey, Matt Jarrett, and so many others.
