Default Being a race director

I tried searching but got to many unrelated results, maybe I'm poor at choosing the correct terms. And I wasn't sure if this was the right place to ask this.

What I'm trying to find out is, whats involved in becoming a race director? Or direct me to a thread discussing this topic.

Thank You
Brian

Here is a document I am working on. There are some missing things but this is a good start.

Thumbs up

.....And just to add, build structure first and keep applying the rules every chance you get.....Plus one key thing.... Marshalling plays a BIG roll and how things move along and can get you out of there at a decent time and maybe hold practice at the end of the day, if extra time allows......

..... Your not going to make everybody happy come race day but with having the game plan in place, will create order and maximize the time on the track....

.... Again, good staring point from above..... Good luck!

What Kwikvdub said is very accurate, his experience in race directing is legendary on the Northeast area. Several other areas to pay close attention to are you have to have thick skin and consistency in running the timing of your program and deciplinary actions you may apply. Expect,,,,,,,,,,correct that, demand professionalism from your seasoned veterans. They will set the stage for those coming up through the ranks. Cut slack to the inexperienced as needed but make sure they too know any delay in one heat/main delays the entire program.

Treat every heat like the national A Main.
