2011 Midwest Series 42nd Season (Nitro On-Road - 6 Races, 4 States)
It's that time for a new thread to start out the new year!
I just want everyone to know that I am working on getting the 2011 schedule sorted out. I have talked to everyone involved with each track to get feedback on possible race dates. Some of the locations need feedback from property owners.
Here is the race schedule for 2011.
May 21-22 Mentor, OH
June 4-5 Portage, IN
July 9-10 Racine, WI
July 23-24 Joliet, IL Leisure Hours Raceway
August 13-14 Cincinnati, OH
September 10-11 Toledo, OH
The Cincinnati race will be at a new location at the same time as a county fair so it should be a great spectator crowd. More information, including location and hotels will be provided in the near future.
The Website will be updated within the next few days to show all the latest race dates.
I hope everyone is looking forward to the new year and is ready to go racing!

This ought to be fun........ I want to get some feedback from the GT racers about bodies. The bodies that come with the cars make the class look realistic and reasonable. Last year some of the bodies seemed to have lost the GT look with the entire back end cut out or XXtra large non typical wings.
What are you guys looking to do this year? Do you guys want to agree on some bodies or do we have to worry about a free for all?

Let's keep all the comments constructive please.
Hey Andy as you know I was really into this class last year and had a ball and hope to do the same this year. I feel that the bodies should be kept in check to a certain degree. I understand that the kyosho bodies are sometimes hard to get and that the warrior body is a little easier to get. Although I am not a fan of the warrior body, we should let it be run just for the simple fact that it is easy to get. I also would like to try the alpha body, because it does look like an audi R8. If we come up with a new rule for bodies let's say that the body must look like some sort of production car so that it is not a free for all. I have seen someone run a truck body and I am definately not for that because as soon as we start to open this up it becomes a nightmare.
The price of kyosho bodies would have me buying from anyone but kyosho. Use plenty of common sense when thinking of new rules. Keep it practical.
Actually the price of the kyosho bodies isn't that much different from the warrior body by inpanema or the alpha body. I got the kyosho corvette for 69.00, and I just picked up the alpha body for the same price, the biggest difference is whether or not you can get a kyosho body, they usually are on back order for a long time.
I'll admit that I'm not a big fan of the Impanema body. I'm not saying I'm against people running it but maybe some limits on how much of the back can be cut out. Perhaps some limits on wings as well. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is how to keep the GT class a GT class and not let it get out of hand. If someone shows up with a slammed 8th scale body with a giant wing it kind of takes away the spirit of the class. That's just my opinion.
As the series director I guess I have to share that opinion but I don't race GT so the thoughts of the actual GT racers are the most important. I was really hoping ROAR would have something figured out by now.
Apparently I tend to Ramble when I get to work at 4am
The sedan bodies based on 2 or 4 door cars are the true spirit of the GT class.
You have bodies from Protoform (PF8), Kyosho, Alpha RC that resemble full size sedan cars. The fact you can attend a race and see so many different bodies makes the class unique and interesting.
Lots of racers are reporting enhanced handling performance from the "Warrior" body. I am hearing greater downforce and higher cornering speeds. At the same time would not like to see a field of GT cars with this type of body/style, we already have that case with other classes, which is ok.

Can anyone tell me if the Warrior body comes with an extra lexan wing extension and if so how long is it?
I found this pic for the back of the Warrior body. I think anyone running this body should be cutting the body out on the cut lines provide. Does anyone have an issue with that???

Looking forward to Spring!! Where is the new Cincy track located?
Andy, the warrior body does have an extension which can add 1/2 inch. The rear has two cut lines, one low, one high. The picture is the low and you can see where the high cut line is.

The Cinci guys are working on directions and a list of hotels. Sounded like it was only 20 minutes or so from the Original. I will give out the info as soon as I get it.
