"THE DON" @ da' Diamond appreciation party 10/10/10
Outdoor season is winding down. Last chance for the nitro-halics to get their groove on. Last chance for the electric crowd to stretch the legs of their cars. It's been a few years since we did these http://www.rctech.net/forum/racing-f...val-speed.html http://www.rctech.net/forum/racing-f...part-deux.html .
Iv'e had numerus requests of racers who want to revisit events like that. Well, you guys know how I roll. So here we go again, another party directed to the Blue Diamond loyalists. This one though is a party with a purpose. It will be a celabration of appreciation.
Race directors/track owners across the country make rather large sacrifices for us and sometimes get minimal return on investment for what we sometimes put them through. Here's your chance to show "THE DON" and his family just how much we all appreciate what he does to provide a fantastic place to enjoy the passion we call "RC". Each and every racer is "requested" to bring a personal gift for Don to be presented to him. Use your imagination, be creative. Find out from other racers what his likes are. Make something for him, paint a body, several of you can pool funds for a personalized plaque, cigars, thank you card with some green backs. Or just a simple thank you cars with a few words of appreciation. It's your call.
Oh yeah, the racing! I knew I forgot something. Just the standard BD stuff. Maybe a few surprises thrown in for good measure. I am looking at opening up for some additional classes, racers choices. 6 entries minimum to run a seperate class. Rain date 10/24/10. Start time to be between 10-11am. More on the start time as we get closer to the day of the event. It will be getting dark earlier and don't want to run out of light. I will be starting a roll call probably a week before the event so we can get a feel for what we got.
Still working on stuff behind the scenes, more to come!

Yep, too often we take much for granted, possibly human nature, but seems to be even more prevelent in RC. Contrary to popular belief, the majority of the track owners/race directors in the country are not able to retire on the income (entry fees) from the tracks they are affiliated with. Probably 95% of us have no desire to own a track, and the other 5%, if they owned a track would at some point second guess their decision to try it. In my opinion their efforts and patience should be recognized. This event/party is ment to recognize Don and other persons who do what they do, so we can do what we do. You enjoy racing at Blue Diamond, show your appreciation, become a giver, not just a taker.

Joe gets there @ 6am sometimes to start prepping the track and getting everything ready. As I once stated in the off road thread... on road wouldn't run as smoothly as it does if it weren't for him. Just thought I would chime in and give the man some credit. +1 Phil.
