Default Year End Charity FUN Race @ Jackson R/C '09

So, the other day I went about organizing a little club race at the end of the year for all the Fun classes that don’t get much playtime at Jackson, and I learned something important. Anything that involves Alex Valdes, Ray Murray, John Brown and the new Jackson R/C cannot be contained by the word “little”!

Announcing the beginning of a tradition:
The Year End Charity Fun Race @ Jackson Raceway ‘09
Sunday, October 18th
Gates open at 8am
Drivers Meeting and Concours Judging at 10:30am
Racing starts at 11am

With all the racer interest and public awareness that RCGT, VTA, Drift and Mini racing has brought in the last couple years, it’s about time we brought them all together for one grand event. What better way to showcase the FUN in R/C racing than to invite the three best clubs in the area, to the best facility in the area, for an event to benefit two great charities near and dear to our hearts. On October 18th Jackson R/C Raceway in NJ will host racers from Ray Murray’s South Jersey Cost Controlled Racing club, John Brown’s Brownie’s Hobbies crew, the Staten Island R/C Car Club drift squad, and YOU! All proceeds will be donated to the United Leukodystrophy Foundation and the American Cancer Society! For more information and to make donations outside this event, please visit www.ulf.org and http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/Ma...al&fr_id=19800.

To maximize the donation from race entries, John Brown and Ray Murray have offered to supply the hardware for this event!
-Trophies for all pre-registered classes (rcsignup.com), 1st-3rd in all mains, provided by Brownie’s Hobbies
-Plaques for Concours winners and “Hard Chargers” in all mains, provided by South Jersey Cost Controlled Racing
-Race swag provided by HPI
-GT2/RCGT raffle bodies provided by TeamB&B
-Trophies will be handed out at the conclusion of each main
-SWAP MEET: bring along your excess gear to strike up a deal!
-Hot Chocolate!: We've sequestered a hot water urn and will have hot cocoa packets enmasse
-Bake Sale:

Since this is a charity race, the more classes you enter, the more $$$ gets donated. So have at it, break out the piggy bank, buy yourself an early holiday gift, dust off that old Mini, or beg/borrow/butdon’tsteal a FUN car to race for the day!
Classes:
Drift Elimination: as per sirclegion.com guidelines
RCGT: as per RCGT guidelines, any chassis manufacturer
13.5 TC: as per ROAR
TCS Mini: as per TCS but no Red Dot motors, $15 motors are available at the track
Cup Racer /4wd Mini: –any 4wd mini chassis/tires/body, 17.5/27T, Lipo 7.4v or 6cell
Nitro VTA: any nitro TC, vintage rims/tires and ANY vintage, muscle car, or oldies body
Electric VTA: as per USVTA guidelines
WGT / F1: direct drive madness! WGT=1c/10.5, F1=2c/17.5
Want another class? PM Greg Sharpe

For more information on class guidelines, follow these links. However, don’t knock yourself out corner weighting to the gram. This is just a FUN race! Besides, no single tech guy could possibly handle all these classes!
Drift http://www.sirclegion.com
RCGT http://www.rcgtshowdown.com/
TCS Mini http://www.tamiyausa.com/tcs/rules.php#mini
4wd Mini –any 4wd mini chassis/tires/body, 17.5/27T, Lipo 7.4v or 6cell
USVTA http://www.usvintagetransam.com/
Vintage Gas Powered http://www.hpiracing.com/news/2009040601/
17.5 & 13.5 http://www.roarracing.com/rules.php

Trophies will be made based on pre-registered entries, so please take a moment to register at rcsignup.com, pick a car for each class you’re running and sign up for the last bit of fresh air before an entire winter inside Horsham. Choose “Pay at the event” when visiting www.rcsignup.com. Pre-registrations need to be in by Monday, October 12th, but walk-ins will be welcome! It's all for a good cause.

Do you need one last day outdoors? Haven’t been to Jackson’s new facility yet? Want to try racing a FUN class? This is your last opportunity this year!

I'm in for 17.5 or 13.5 TC. But, would rather race on Saturday. Makes for a long day on Sunday and having to go to work on Monday.

Don't want to complain.

I m in..
looks like lots of classes,
I echo Steve's concern, about time constraints

Greg, what does the program look like time wise, I know the drifting qualifing consumes some time.

how many rounds of quals ?
Who is bringing breakfast ?

Damn that track looks sweet !

when I was racing a lot we ran on dusty parking lots !!
I will never forget running at Ray Murrays, under the lights, couldnt see the car, then go inside the bar after the race for an adult beverage !!

Saturday didn't work for some of the organizers and ........ Horsham will be open on Saturdays during this time!

We're gonna try for 3 rounds of qualies, but we'll adjust on the fly to get everyone home at a reasonable hour.

The Drift guys run 2 minute 2 car eliminations, so we'll fit them into the program in a convenient way for everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing them in action on the curbs!

You want WGT! You got it! Any entries will add to the donation.

There are 2 full heats of Minis (4wd) down here in Maryland. All you have to do is mention ABC sponsored race, prizes and dancing girls and these guys are there.

BTW, they run "Mimi's Mini" rules which is 17.5 and 2s Lipo. With the smaller cars and bigger track, put 20 of them out there. Oops, we need to upgrade the software.

Remember Guys, Classes will be determined thru rcsignup.com. So get them in and your right Mike, RCGT is a good idea for a 17.5 class. We will follow those rules.....

..... Let's make plans to attend. We will start on time (11am starts awesome to me) and move things along. We can run 2 qualifiers depending on how the day goes along.......... We have some other stuff in the works for prizes and goodies to be handed out.

.........It's for a great cause Guys and we get to play on a awesome track with a European flair. It is a real treat to run on this track......... Don't miss out!!.......... Other updates coming soon..........
