The building is roughly 7,000 sq ft. There is room to make the space between the track and the drivers stand. We have to have that anyway for wheel chair access.
I think the track could be about 90x50 yet wont know for sure until we can map everything out. It may be able to be longer.
Pit space will be tight but i think we can get enough inside to hold 70+ racers. There is also the possibility of having outdoor covered pit space in the back of the building for larger events.
The office space is plenty big for a well stocked hobby shop (just need to knock down one wall) The hobby shop has its own seperate entrance as well from the outside so the hours of opperation do not have to be the same as the track if need be.
There is alot of planning, and research that needs to go into this before we can have a final (yes we will open) but so far it looks great!
Again I thank everyone for there support and please keep the suggestions coming. You can also send me or Howard a PM if you like. We have already had several and welcome all the suggestions.
PEACE..

Im sure whatever you guys are deciding on, that you will have a great turnout of racers that will support the track and the hobbyshop. Southern Calif. is a great place to open up a carpet track/hobbyshop cause most of the r.c. facilities are located there ( yokomo, team associated, team losi, mugen, etc.....). Anyways, goodluck and keep us updated on the status of whats going on.

Guys,
I enjoy both aspects of electric and nitro racing very much and I appreciate what they both bring to this hobby. I am of the belief they contribute equally and feed off of each other. I believe it is important to keep them fused together in order to further its future. After all its always interesting to see what the other guy is doing in the pit next to you even if it doesn't look the same as what you're doing. So my point is, this racer would truely like to see a facility do both nitro and electric and do them equally well. I am disapointed to see that electric will be a main course and nitro a side show. I love the idea of the hobby having a permenant facility, but saddened to see it neglecting one of its kids. I have way to much invested in nitro to go back so I guess this gasers will have to find a new playground.

Maybe two times a month for starter. Then see how it goes.
I would give it a try.
Are you going to compete with SoCal for Saturday Nights?

You bet they will be welcome! We still have a ton of research and number crunching to do for us to decide if this will work or not.
We still have our new parking lot program starting on Jan 25th 2004 in Norco/Corona.... www.rcheat.com
If we do open the carpet track we will move the parking lot program over there as well to provide racing for our Nitro friends!

I highly doubt Jan, we are in the very pre mature stages and have a couple bridges to cross before we can know for sure if it will happen.
This thread was started by Howie to see what kind of feed back we would get, now its time to step up the pace and get the ball moving. There is another person with funds that is interested in opening a track in the 909 so we need to see what will transpire.
Either way there will be an indoor track in the 909 next year!
PEACE

I for one would love to see a carpet track and I would drive to support it. It'd be nice to see 12th scale pan cars come back to life. Also Micros would work extremely well on the carpet surface. I know most guys cringe when they hear the word Micro, but for a new track it is more support. I heard So Cal has had as many as 4 heats of them. I hear the F1 cars work well on carpet too. So many cars that would work out well on carpet, I hope you can get this off the ground. Good luck!!!

Yes, go for micros. I've been looking for a smaller/tighter track than Socal to race micros. Right now the only place I've heard of is in Rialto. Remember the Xray will be out soon and the Micro XXX-Ts are looking for a place to run.
