Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday! The weather was beautiful and the competition close. My highlights:
Seeing Chuck and Brandon again. It was the first time we've seen Chuck since his motorcycle accident. He hasn't changed a bit. I know he was dying to go marshal, but can't walk yet for a few weeks.
Good to have Alan, Jerry, and George T. here. They always make for a fun time!
The close racing between Paul and Martine in E-buggy had me watching the two the whole time. Good stuff!
Good to have a separate heat for 1/10th buggies!
Rich and Kevin had some great racing in 4wd. short course. It was back and forth for the wins in the mains.
Kevin and George were the two up front in both E-buggy mains but Chris had a great run in A1. He also was on his record pace of 15 laps in the heats, so it won't be long before he reaches that goal.
Greg had an impressive run in round two of E-buggy. Being one of the rookies can be frustrating at times, but Greg worked on his car to find the best set up and is getting better each week.
Drew does really well in E-buggy. He's finally getting used to it after running nitro in the past.
Ted and Ray were the top two in 1/10th buggy. Ted's cars always look smooth out there. Ray has been running here for only a few weeks and is getting dialed in.
Also enjoy watching Bob Thompson. He's really taken to 4wd. short course after running 2wd. forever. People are always saying "watch out for Bob. He's fast!"
And don't forget about Jared! He qualified third among some very stiff competition and finished third in both mains. The first main he was still on the lead lap in the end. Jared may not T.Q. (yet), but he's always there in the end.
Michael Simpson did well today trying to chase down Jared in A1 and would finish right behind him.
Tim did a good job finishing mid pack in short course. Kyle is doing well and learning the rules of racing. It's hard to think of everything while you're racing, especially when you're a kid, and you almost have to remember everyone's paint scheme to see who's lapping you. That's why I announce colors of vehicles. It's not only for the spectators who have no idea who these guys are, but for the drivers who see someone coming up on them, probably to lap them. Kyle does his best to get out of the way when necessary. You learn a little every week.
Carl T.Q.'d in E-buggy but issues kept him from finishing both mains.
We did let Carmel run the only nitro buggy out there with the E-buggies. I'm sure he could sum that up in his own words. It did work out well though.
Dennis and Alan had some good racing in 1/10th buggy.
New racer Matt was better this week but broke something in his truck and couldn't stay for the mains. Being the underdog with a Traxxas Slash, he does well with it.
Oh yeah. Ron ran 1/8th E-buggy. Unfortunately his transponder didn't work in A1, but finished well in A2. I'm sure he could put that into his own words as only he can do.
All in all, a really fun day!
Thanks to Rich, Chris, Ray and anyone else who helped water, sweep, marshal or carry stuff! It all works together for a good day of racing!
See you all next week!
