Just posting the dates for the race for those interested. Should be a great race at a great track. Track will be 90x50 and on fresh carpet for this year. Plenty of pit spots, great on site hobbyshop and good food to boot. Local major airport will be in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Race will be held March 10-14th at Smokey Mountain Raceway in Alcoa, TN which is just outside of Knoxville. With 4 heats on Saturday and tripple A mains on sunday. Practice on the Nats layout will begin wensday-friday with a club race friday night. Race will be bring your own foam tires. Stock class has yet to be determined on handout or bring your own. Classes will be Sportsman stock, expert stock, 19 turn mod, and open mod TC. And it 12th scale it will be stock and mod.
Should be a great race and more details and flyer to come.
Can't wait! By the way Eric, your car looked great sat., I had nothing for you. I hope Jason, and Shawn can come back soon, I didn't really get a chance to run with them.
the 15th will be the last race on the old carpet. This week we will be constructing some new track barriers. Next week will begin the stretching and seeming of the new carpet. We will then have 84x55 to work with.
I broke my Dusty TC3 out and took the dirt bags to a carpet track LOL it sure is different using a air to clean up your car .The Place was rocking 10 heats of awsome racing I cant believe i won the stock amain that was cool the tables were nice too its been a while since i have not had to dring a table to a track I had a blast .You Guy Now how to put on a show .I was going to race dirt oval this winter but forget that i will be there . how mush is it to setup my pit spot and just leave it there this winter
I cant wait for the nats that will be a cool deal since you have all that space you should be able to have 400+ drivers that would be awsome
Not only will the 15th be the last day for the carpet but also the barrier system. Everything on the track will be new on the 22nd.
I have also secured Hotel Rooms for the Nats at the Fairfield Inn for only $50 per room. Up to 4 in a room. It's only a mile from the track and next to lots of fast food and some adult beverages.
can't wait for the new carpet & the big race! eric man you caught some tough luck in the main, i was just glad i could keep out the way long enough for you guys to make good qualifing runs to make the A. you & james were both way too fast for me in the heats.
also want to say what a great job you guys are doing with the track! the place will put Knoxville on the RC map! great work guys
Pictures will be up late next week of the track. We are installing new carpet this week, the size will be about 50X85'. We have built in pit space for about 200 racers currently.
In the next week I will have our new web site up, with pictures of the track.
We have just started our discussion board on RCtech.net today, used to be on EZBoard...
We also will host the Region 3 ROAR carpet on-road in January.
I currently try and keep up with the track on my web page. I post the results of weekly racing with points and post pictures as they come availble. As I do not have a digit camera.
Any word on an entry form yet or what the entry fee will be for this shin-dig? Looks like a cool track Im planning on making the trip down for this race.
