Lets get more reasons!!
I race because it keeps me out of trouble for the most part. Going to the track isn't just to race for me. Its to be around people that are most like you. Everyone is there to help each other and that's the main reason I'm about to start my 5th year into this hobby. Not the whole R/c car racing aspect is getting sponsors and being a top driver, its about learning, meeting new people, and trying to one day be a top driver. It's a fun hobby and i see myself doing it for the rest of my life.

It's funny you should ask, as I was just thinking about that while trying to figure out how to make my Mini handle at LaMirada. There are a number of reasons, but these are the main ones
1. I'm in my 70's now and have out lived most of my friends and the ones that are still living, live very sedentary lives. Too tame for me.
2. R/C racing really exercises the brain cells. It keeps your mind active and quick.
3. I'm still competitive and it really gives me a kick to spot someone 40 years or so and finish ahead of them. Go back to my pit table smiling all the way.
4. Mainly though, it's to hang out with my new friends. It's comforting to know that these people aren't going to die on me.
5. I also like the fact that no one wants to give me a handicap because of my age. A senior discount at the fast food places is nice tho. I also like the fact that I can still keep up and on occasion win a race every so often and it is on equal terms.
Just wanted to thank the guys I race with for not yelling at me for not being the fastest turn marshall out there. Sprinting to an overturned car and leaping over boards and dots just is not in my capabilities any more. I'm still quicker than some of the marshalls in some of my races tho.
