2009 just keeps looking better and better Ray. Got 4 new guys VERY much interested in racing RCGT next season. 2 have already ordered cars. Between Vintage TA and RCGT,,,Its going to be Bizzy

--------------------------------------------
Finally able to give this report...Doing this from work.
Tested some RCGT set ups on Friday. Went out to the local park. Smooth asphalt/Black top surface. Tested with 3 different HPI bodies.
1. 200mm Mustang GTR
2. 200mm Camero SS (Modern body, not my slanted 6)
3. 190mm FD-RX7
Tires = HPI Xpattern - 1 set with foam inserts / 1 set without.
Motors = 27t / 19t brush ...I guess these could be compared to 17.5/ 10.5 BLs
I actually had to go back home to solder out and change motors...yeah I live that close to the park..1 mile..lol.
Ran 6 Cell 4600 NIMH packs.
I used cones to simulate different track patterns at different back straight lengths.
I was Focusing more on handling differences as far as aero and tires more so than that of actual speed.
Results...On the
small track layout with the 27T The only difference came by way of the tires. The tires with the inserts delt with the sharper corners better due to lack of scrub. The Tires without the inserts seemed to give me more straight away punch and forward bite. I really couldn't feel or tell the difference in any areo involvement with the different bodies. All appeared to be quick.. Maybe a little more turn and straight away stabilization in the 190mm FD RX7 which has a extended front lip/defuser which helps with front downforce. The FD body also has small trench in the roof like that of the old Matt Francis Triple XT bodies. I never noticed that until today.
When it came to the
Big track layouts with a much longer back straight, yeah, THIS is were the aero/and downforce came into play. I ran the 3 bodies with the 19t / 4600 NIMHs.
By The Way This Go-Power Set Up Was FAST, and I believe its about as Fast as things need to be for RCGT on Larger tracks. Wouldn't recommend this go-power set up to new or inexperienced racers...On inserts, The 200 mm Mustang actually felt as if it wanted to lift. The mustang did this on the non insert tires as well. I put a couple of washers under the rear wing to boost it higher above the Mustang's roof, stayed with the insert tires, and the car stabled out and became a little more managable at higher speed. The 200mm Camero SS body Delt with the high speed REAL well without any adjustments. The 190mm FD RX7 Body was glued and stable as well, and did provide more initial high speed turn than the other two. No aero-push out of the turns. Maybe a little oversteer coming off the turns.
All bodies seem to work well. The Mustang calmed down after raising the rear spoiler a bit. The Camero SS was comfortable. I'd say the FD RX7 delt with both track layouts the best. Just some small testing, but every little bit helps

... I still think Driving styles and skills will be the final say so, no matter what body shell you run with. Yes, New or Inexperienced racers should definitely run everything on the Stock side of the fence.
