Racing in Chaplin CT this weekend!!!
 

Hello all.
I just wanted to report that there will be a race in Chaplin CT this weekend.

The controlfreakz www.controlfreakz.com will be taking over the NERCAR date this coming weekend.

Also keep in mind that there are no engines running pror to 10:00AM

I also believe that the surface is being sealed with the same sealer they use in Toledo OH. Tire wear and tracktion should be improved greatly from the last time we ran there.

August 24 Race

Just got a call from Ken and looks like the August 24 race is on and got some great news!!!

1-The track should be sealed with Tarconite by weeks end. Same stuff used to seal the Toledo track. Wear and grip should be improved.

2-New blend of traction additive will be sprayed on the racing surface.

3-Port-o-potty will be onsite for the weekend and all future events.

4-Food will be available trackside (Hot dogs/burgers/water/soda etc)...along with couple of picnic tables.

5- New layout will be constructed using Nercar board system.

6- Gail from Nercar will be down to call the race.

And weather looks picture perfect at 79 and sunny.

Hope to see everyone trackside.

Race Schedule:

Track opens 8am

Open practice starts at 10am.

!!!!!!!!!!NO RUNNING OF ENGINES BEFORE 10AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sign ups and practice 10-11:45.

Racing starts at 12 and we will schedule a lunch break

Food will be available on site.

Classes:

1/8 Open

200mm Sedan

GT Spec Class (Kyosho Inferno GT, Ofna Ultra, Ofna Dm1).

This will be a new fun low cost class and for everyone that has a car please bring it down.

Ken will also have the new Ofna Ultra GTP 2 in stock by the weekend.

Planning to attend with my Inferno GT (which now shifts into 2nd gear thanks to RC Madness)

Hey guys, something to keep in mind after sealing the track. You may want to pull a huge truck tire around on the track to get off some of the roughness from the residue of the sealer. I know that's what they did in Ft. Myers after sealing their track.

Thanks for the tip...hopefully we wont have to go that route as the sealer is not a sand mix.

It looks like they were spraying it on. Did they go over it with a second coat and roll it on? From What Ted Hammer and CWhit say it needs to be rolled to get it to go on a thick as possible.

Great day of racing today, nice layout, sealed track made a big difference in traction/tire wear. Great job Jamie, Kenny and everyone involved! Thanks guys!

Tire wear really improved.

I went from 4.5 mm wear in 5 minutes (yes that is not a typo) to 1mm in 5mm.

I am also harder on rear tires than most I tend to spin the tires more than other mid corner. Other likely had even less tire wear.

Grip was good but we will try a thinner mix next time it went on a bit thick.

Shooting for another race on 9/6....details to follow.

This place rocks. Most of things are all ready in good shape and more is coming. Track is sealed with right stuff. Tire wear is ok and gets better when more foam is laid down.

Wait till ya'll get some GT cars with rubber tires to build up the groove.
