Trophy plate mount? Need ideas........
Hey Guy's
My Son and I started racing this year and have started to place in the top three occasionally Anyway, our local club gives out metal plates for the top three spots in each class showing the place, class, club name, and date. The plates are about 1" tall by about 4" wide and have double sided tape on the back.
Here's my question:
I'm looking for a way to display them on the wall and would like to use something made of aluminum or carbon fiber. I've looked around but only see sheets that I would have to finish. I don't want the old school wood plaque. Looking for something roughly 9" x 12"
Any ideas?
Anyone else get these plates at their races? What do you mount them on?

I got them stuck on my pit box. You could get a pit board with a carbon fiber finish and hang that on the wall. Or a blank wood plaque like the ones from a trophy shop and keep adding the plaques.

I thought about putting them on my pit box, but my Son is very proud of them and doesn't want them getting banged up. I don't want a wood one, but the plaque style you are talking about would be perfect if I could find it in carbon fiber, stainless, aluminum, or acrylic.

I really don't want wood. I guess I could get a piece of pine, shape it, sand it, and use some black high gloss lacquer on it.

The whole lexan, plexiglass thing would be perfect. How do I shape it though?

lexan isn't as brittle as plexi-glass, and can be cut with something like a small scroll saw, or even cut the corners with a hack saw and file them round. Then sand the edges...it just depends on how far you want to go. You can leave them square too.
The lexan sold in one of our hardware stores (O.S.H. Orchard Supply Hardware) comes in many various pre-cut sizes, from about 8 x 10" to 24 x 48".
The sheets come with protective coating on both sides to keep them from scratching.
(I used them in my kids rooms for WINDOW panes, cause they were always breaking their glass windows out.)
Paint the back side, the same way you'd paint a R/C Body. (Dark Colors FIRST and everything in reverse) Even have some really cool MASKINGS made with r/c logos or something (The skies the limit...)
