I think just the vintage tires alone will level the playing field since there is only one compound, and they're treaded at that.

Too much HP can't be a good thing with these bodies and tires....caNT waIT to fire mine up.... (just waiting on tires....I got jacked in june lopez's neighborhood....LOL)

How'd it go today????? Any Trans Am racing?????? Any pictures??????

I do have a question to anyone running the 66 Mustang body though....

I'm running the HPI RS4-3 and the way the body is shaped, you can't open the fuel tank with the body on, without cutting away a section of the hood.

I hate to spoil the looks of the car by cutting it....any ideas?

Ray aesthetics being everything in this class, have you thought about the good ole ZIP TIE trick out the window.

Tried that yesterday, but the fuel tank lid is too far under the hood for it to open....Even tried putting the tank in backwards, but the fuel line would kink badly....I'll figure sumpthin ouT....

The fix right now is to just take the body off to fuel it....I just CAN'T cut the hood....LOL

Another "unwritten rule" for our guys, is to leave the rear wing clear, to again keep the looks of the body intact. From a spectators point of view, they won't even notice them when they're on the track....

That's a good idea for the rear wing, I'll have to pass that one on Homie.

If you are trying to keep the rules as close to the VTA rules as possible, then the rear wing will be very clear, because it will be invisible

from the official VTA rules

Body provided deck lid spoilers allowed (not wings). No additional skirts or raised/extended wings or air control surfaces allowed.

Thanks for clearing that up nemix! I was under the impression that all the vintage bodies came with a wing, and people were using them.

Still a lot to learn about this class.....Mine is coming off today.....

Todd has given the okay for running the wing in the Nitro Trans Am class @ 301 Raceway. I believe this class is more about more involvement of rc'ers, past, present and future - not so much about following rules to the tee. We just want to get back to having fun and you don't need strict rules for that.
