Default Long Island Model Racer's Association

A bunch of guys from the eastern end of Long Island, NY are forming a new R/C club named Long Island Model Racer's Association. We mainly race on-road cars. We are at the beginning stages of re-forming this organization. Our eventual goal is to build an on-road track at a specific public park within a year or two, but we need more people to come and join us!

We are starting to hand out flyers to all who are interested. Here’s a look:

We also just launched our website. We plan to make it look nice and pretty within a few days:

http://www.limodelracers.org/

We also have a public forum (thanks Jim):
http://lihobbyinfo.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=20

We also plan to register with ROAR within the coming weeks...

Thanks to all!

Good luck. Where is your target location for the track?

That would be awesome. Having an outdoor track in our backyard is what we need.

We are going to try for cedar creek in Wantagh. It's all preliminary though at this stage...

been ther done that

if you could actually pull it off , racers would probaly come

here's a list if things you would need to make it work :

1) full transponders
2) good track conditions ( broom and parking lot does not count.. I mean a real track !)
3) full support from neighbors ( nitro cars can be noisy)
4) on site support from hobby shop ( would help .. but not necisity)
5) a good race program ( a race director that actually knows wht he's doing)
6) offer some perks ( I.E hot dogs, drinks, chips) ....

you would basically have to rival the 2 major asphalt tracks
Jackson RC in jersey
R/C madness in CT

some mighty big shoes to fill there ....... but hell , if you could fill 1 though 4 on the list .... I'm sure a buch will come out to race

do that and mabey you'll have somthin

Belive me .. I'm all for it.. I'd love not to travel to get the outdoor experience

Yea, it's a huge feat... no doubt about it.

What we are trying to do is form a core group of racers to move forward and propose a track.

One of the guys in the group already dropped 7K on a AMB system.. so #1 is almost complete as we are waiting for the equipment.

We also have support from the region 1 ROAR director Jim. He came to talk a few weeks back.

If you have any ideas to help us out call or come and join. Any help is appreciated.

Jim could probably answer this... Does Tommy still have his track setup and trailer??? I know he was trying to sell it off last year....
