Thumbs up letz race!

Hey C.B. C.S. here, you know one of the Chris' from the Central Valley, put me down for 2 classes for sure and I'll talk to the other Chris from here (Chris H.) I'll also talk to Ironman (Matt S.) he's from Fresno but we won't hold that against him and see if they will make it. To those others that might be reading this, just a word about Nipomo.......GREAT! and here's a few more, super people to race with, super people to deal with, always a fantstic layout, and the weather of the central coast. There should be no reason for the local racers over there not to attend and support YOUR track considering there are 3 racers for sure ,and possibly 2 to 3 more from the Central Valley, running 2 classes each, willing to make the 21/2 to 3 hour drive to race at a great track in a great location.Come on guys & gals it's not that tough to pre-enter on line.Tell your racer friends to dust off those TC's and those oval cars and don't forget those 1/12 cars too.C.B. sorry for being so long winded but racing with you folks is a heck of a way to spend a day at the coast.C.B. you're in our prayers. C.S.

C.B. C.S. already signed up ,will work on the others. What's power going to be like? Or should I just bring the gen? I'm in the middle of building a small race trailer so space won't be an issue. How's the interest so far? Gotta go, take care my friend. C.S.

I haven't even heard if brushless is a go yet let alone lipo's. Any of the "people in charge of rules" want to let us know what the rules are going to be on this stuff before we race?

Did I read that right? Jim McBeth? how about his son? It would be great to see them again, its been awhile.

I will be out of town till next friday but I will make it a point to be there if you guys are racing. I will sign up for 2 classes of touring car.

(NOTE: I have no involvement in the rules for the CCRL)

Here's my take so far on what I've seen w/ the Brushless

OVAL 4300 (10.5) is FASTER than 19t by 1-2 laps on virtually every track we've run them.

TOURING 4300(10.5)- I haven't seen much difference here yet, the BL seems to have such a different power band, some of the 19t motors seem to be better on parts of the track, where the B/L motors are better on the other.

What I have suggested to a few other clubs is to create their class as a 4300/10.5 class...and ALLOW the 19t motors to run WITH the B/L motors (Not the other way around)

If a 19t guy knows he may be outgunned going in...but does it willingly it's ok, but if guys show up to run specifically 19t, and get smoked by a B/L they will be pissed.

As for 13.5 vs STOCK - EVERYTHING I've seen in On-road and Oval has the 13.5 SMOKING the stock motors. The 13.5 runs on a lot of tracks very close to the same times as the 10.5 (4300) motors. Power wise NOVAK only shows about a 10 watt difference in the power rating of these 2 motors w/ the SINTERED rotors. I would NOT advise running these together...

Running Expert Stock type of guys with the 13.5's might be ok, but I would keep the 13.5 out of any SPORTSMAN Stock class.

...LIPOs should not be too big of a factor IF they get hit with a HUGE weight penalty, since they are so light....as long as they are only running a 2 cell (7.4 volt) packs.

The discharge curve of the lipo is a lot flatter (more even) than a good NiMh cell. The voltage will drop off more w/ the NiMh, so it will probably be faster up front...and the LIPO will be more constant.

I believe the FUTURE of RC is and will be LIPO and BRUSHLESS, I resisted it for several years, but have actually embraced the PEAK/ORION style LIPOS in a sealed Case (3200 and 4800 mah) and for our series we're looking at running the 3200 Carbon Edition 'exclusively' for most of our classes in the next season.
  • These have Kokam cells (they have about THE best rating in the LIPO market)
  • The plastic cover adds some protection against the cells becoming damaged.
  • They fit into a 6 cell battery tray (No way currently to run them as saddle packs)
  • They are fairly affordable - at approx $80-85 a pack
  • They can be run an UNLIMITED number of times daily. (I'd still use at least 2 packs, because they can be kinda slow to charge)
