I'll run my first ASER next weekend and looking forward to it. What have you guys used for FDR in the 19T class when running a 10.5 Novak? Or what spur/pinion/car (I could then figure out the FDR).

Arboleda,

That's a good question, and unfortunately not easily answered.

When you say the Novak 10.5, I assume you mean the new SS version of that motor (not the old 4300).
I know most drivers have been able to gear that motor very high for 5 minute races, but this is a 4 hour race, so top speed is not as important as gearing for reliability.

Last year brushless motors were not allowed in this event. So I would
recommend you show up early enough to get some track time to work out your gearing.

Yes, it's the latest 10.5 Pro part. And I agree that the idea is to survive 4 hours, not run fast for 10 minutes

I'll post back here with what we end up with as I assume a lot of others will be running 10.5 Pros in this series.

Hi Matt,

I will post your questions with answers in both places for everyone to read.

1. We would love the help. We've been doing this for a while so I think just helping unload the gear or hanging a banner or two but there's not much else to do.

2. Yes, you do need your own driver stand. We have been using a metal stand that's 16" off the ground and enough for one person to stand on at a time. Several people use their pit boxes. Some bring small 2-3 step ladders but those always seem unbalanced. Everyone will be on the sidewalk on the north side of the parking lot. The pit compound will be on the east or west side depending on what you prefer. Many prefer the east side.

3. We are not planning on A/C power being provided. But that could change if needed. Wisperlight generators are $75 a day and they output 400 amps. That would be a nice solution if you guys plus everyone else needs the power.

4. Everything is repair-able (if that's a word). You can replace everything during the event. And let's hope there is very little replacing. You may also have a T-car (spare) ready to go but it's entrance into the race must be announced to the ASERS Race Director (me) but must be inspected prior to the race and wear the same shell that was entered into the race.

I will be handing out number stickers in the morning. I still need everyone's AMB number. I'm sorry about the 100º forecast but last year we ran in May and for some strange Utah reason it was 90º+ that day too.

Ben, a couple of questions for you:

1. Rod and I would like to come early and help with setup if you feel that would be beneficial. What time do you think you'll begin the setup?

2. I heard that we're responsible for driver stands. Is this the case. Out of curiosity, will people setup their driver stands at any point around the outside of the track (such as next to their pit pavilion) or will we be putting them all in one location?

3. Will A/C power be available and is there any concern of tripping breakers due to 4892847 chargers running at once? J At the moment Rod and I don't have access to a generator so we'd like to begin to make plans to find one if need be.

4. My impression for what can be changed out on the car during pits is that most anything can be swapped out. If a motor burns out we can swap it, if a chassis breaks (heaven forbid) we could change it, etc. But simply swapping the entire car for a backup car is not permitted if I'm guessing right. Could you confirm?

Thanks!

Matt Lund (Team Wasatch R/C)

Would love to race this! You should have set yourself up at LRP last weekend! Maybe next year.
Where do you get the decals for the various teams?

I made the decals myself. They are cut vinyl with logos available on the web. It's not easy working with decals so small but at least I can create my favorite teams.

We love endurance racing... so when and where.

I am about to purchase my first F103. We are going run a spec class on carpet this winter. I want to replicate one of the Dyson car's since there shop is just a couple miles from my home.

An RC event of this type at Limerock during the ALMS would be a huge spectator event. Plus it would be a cashcow for any shop that shows selling RTR kits.
ALMS runs around July 4th there every year. You might want to reach out to the track management.
