Yeah...If your car "sucks" on 2nd run RP30's; you might want to look at car setup You might lose a 1/10th or 2/10th at most on the 2nd run, but if it's more than that.....well

This brought to mind the whole question of why rubber tires are 'better' on their first run? Assuming one doesn't overheat the compound (and thus change it) and assuming the whole tire is the same material, is there some special stickiness from the outside as a result of either the manufacturing process or just being exposed to air?

If so, does cleaning with motor cleaner, Paragon or other equally-safe chemicals do any good in restoring the outer stickiness?

At a race like this wouldn't a "tenth ot two" per lap qualify as "suck"

I think that's what Ertrachter meant. Dropping 1/10th or 2/10th at Reedy was a huge difference last year in 19turn. He still made podium I think

I consider that very good! I consider "sucks" as spinning out or sliding around. Everyone has the same amount of tires when they start; so everyone will lose 1/10th or 2 The car still drives very well on the 2nd run tires

I raced with RP30's over the weekend and had 3 very fast runs. Actually I went 4 sec faster in my 2nd qualifier on the 3rd run tires (1 practice 2 qualifiers).

Tires will be limited

Controlled Tire
"A controlled tire will be used for all classes. The exact compound is the RP-30, provided by Schumacher USA and TAKE-OFF, on a pre-mounted and glued dish wheel. The tire allotment (4 total race sets) for the Invitational class will be the same as every year since the inception of the Reedy touring Car race. The open class allotment will be the same as the Invitational class with 4 total sets allowed for qualifying and race main events. Practice tires will be available for sale. Invitational drivers will be alloted 4 sets for practice while Open Class drivers will be allotted 3 sets for practice tires. This is the maximum the race organizers have available for sale. All controlled race tires used at the Reedy Race must be purchased at the event. The race organizers will mark these tires for tech purposes. The price of the tires is $30.00"
