Rules:
You must be a member for 90 days AND have 90 legitimate posts before you're allowed to create a thread in the (2) For Sale forums. OR you can become an Elite member which will lift these restrictions. Any obvious attempt at "post running" will result in those posts being deleted and your account being suspended.
Transfer or sale of firearms, or any other federally-regulated items is not permitted
This forum is solely for members' personal sales. New items may be sold, but not by any company, retail or otherwise, or by anybody representing a company. Should you desire commercial advertisements on R/C Tech, please review our Advertising Policies.
Posting links to a For Sale forum thread in the general forums will get you an infraction.
Posts linking to Ebay auctions are also not allowed and will be deleted.
All posts must list an item’s price. Auction style posts, and/or posts that do not have an item price listed are not allowed and will be deleted.
"Trade only" threads MUST list what you're willing to trade for.
You're allowed ONE thread per item. Multiple listings for the same item or any combination of items is not allowed.
Under no circumstances may users post suggesting that a listed item may be found elsewhere at a cheaper price. It is the responsibility of the buy to search for the best deal. This should be a safe, friendly environment for members to sell their items without being undercut within their own threads.
When using Paypal as a payment option, under NO circumstances can a seller request the payment be made as a "Gift", nor shall the buyer Pay as a "Gift"
Asking a buyer to pay additional money to cover PayPal seller fees is against the rules. Threads will be deleted without warning.
If you ask for fees or payment to be sent as a gift via PM's and it's reported your account will be suspended. Second violation of this and your account will be banned.
Your first "bump" may be anytime you want after creating a thread. From that point on you're allowed one "bump" per calendar day
What exactly is a "bump"..
It's painfully obvious that many people simply don't understand what is actually considered a "bump" so lets take a look...
The obvious~ bump, ttt, post up, morning bump, afternoon bump, the 12 hours is close enough to 24 hours nobody will notice bump.
The less obvious~ PM sent, PM replied, Pics added (with or without additional pics), price drop, new price, make offer, sale pending, sorry no trades, ect., ect. the list goes on....
So you know, when you post ANYTHING in your thread, that's not to conduct business, it's considered a "bump". Almost all of the above can be done with the "edit" button.
There's been a lot of confusion lately on this rule. To clarify, doing business in a thread isn't considered a bump. An example is if a potential buyer asks a question, you can answer them without being in violation of the rules. Like any rule, some will try to manipulate this but it's not hard to tell when they do.
All threads will continue to be moderated at the staffs discretion and on a case by case basis.
Thank you
RESPONSIBILITY
All sales conducted within the RCTech forums are the sole responsibility of the person(s) involved. RCTech, and it’s staff will not be held responsible.
Do not post your personal address on these forums. The forums are viewable by anyone, and information posted here such as your address would be freely available to anyone. Keep that information strictly to Private Message or E-mail.
If a deal seems suspicious, or to good to be true, then it may be. Check the user’s profile and search for that individual’s feedback in the Trader Feedback section. Please report such threads to the moderators.
You are also responsible for posting Trader Feedback after the sale is completed. Please post such information in a prompt manor, as this information may be used by other potential buyers.
COURTESY
Please post listings within the correct forums.
Please include preferred contact information within your listing. This can include your e-mail address or Instant Messenger service handle.
No random comments! Only post if you are interested in buying or selling items on the boards. Random and/or useless posts should be reported to the moderators to be deleted.
Seller Suggestions:
Titles should also be clear and concise. The less confusing the title is, the easier it is for a potential buyer to find the item they are looking for.
Pictures are extremely helpful in selling items. The should be actual photos of the item you are selling, and not those from websites or ebay. If they are not your photos, they should not be on your listing.
Image hosting is free through RCTech, by attaching the images to your post. Please utilize this feature, as it is convenient both for buyers and sellers.
If you do not have a digital camera, definitely try to borrow one, or take advantage of film processing with the “Photo CD” option. This extra option generally costs less than $4 per CD and is a simple way to get photos of the item you are selling.
Buyer Suggestions:
Always check a user’s feedback before dealing with them. You can check in the Trader Feedback forum using RCTech’s Search feature. It is also suggested to ask for references. Check the user’s profile for their registration date. You may want to take extra precautions for newly registered users.
Buyers should let sellers know when they’ve made payment. Information such as when PayPal transactions were made, or when Money Orders have been mailed is useful.

90 days and 90 posts. That is the rule. It is in effect to protect buyers and sellers from people creating multiple names or coming to RCTech just to scam people.
You can make 8 worthy posts in a matter of minutes, go to the newb forum and see if there is anyone there you can answer some questions. Use the new posts buttons and see if there are any threads you wish to contribute to. Just dont go around bumping threads uselessly or welcoming new members, that is considered fluffing your posts count and is frowned upon.

Yeah, it is a different world, unfortunately. Online makes it easier for bad people to screw over a hobbyist trying to save a buck or sell off some of his old stuff.
Scammers usually dont want to wait 90 days or make 90 posts on a forum just to screw someone over. A lot of bigger forums with very active for sale sections do the same thing.
One forum I am on (WERA.com) actually was so popular for selling stuff the for sale section broke free to form its own website that you have to pay to buy and sell from.

My account won't let me post either. 3 year member. 61 posts. And yes mostly in For Sale. Ok I admit I rarely add to discussions because it usually ends up with someone disagreeing. After 35 years in the hobby, I really enjoy buying and selling items. Someone gets my cool stuff and I get their cool stuff. There's value with that. It's still website traffic.
Anyway, some feedback to the moderators. This is a good policy. Keeps rif-raf, and scammers out that's a fact. Perhaps I may suggest a "check the rules" link on the error page since they indeed recently changed. I had to dig to find this thread with no response from two emails to admin. Here's a screen shot of what I get with click here to restrictions page, which is a dead link. Also, my 100% feedback seems to have disappeared. Guess I'll start over.
Great site keep it up

If your not happy with the rules then sell your stuff on ebay or something, rctech don't make money from any of the sales and nor do members have to pay any fees to sell their gear, considering the fees on ebay its not a bad deal here, read the rules, follow them and lets not try to ruin a good thing.

To all those people complaining keep in mind this is primarily a forum for the exchange of ideas / information and discussion on rc related matters, anything additional to that such as buy and sell is secondary and not why the forum is here. That said if you want to buy and sell straight away, purchase an elite membership, it's still cheaper than ebay fees would be. Given 95% of users don't pay a cent I don't think we are being at all unfair!

I wasn't complaining or disagreeing. I was suggesting to Admin that the current link is dead and the "rules" could be linked off that page since they changed. Thanks for accusing me and derailing that lol
If you think that this site does not benefit $ from each and every visitor, search, impression, post (doesn't matter if it's in F/S), comment, picture, review, etc etc etc, you should take a course in basic web advertising.
