I generally log into this site at least once a day if not more trying to keep up on maybe three or four threads. Since I choose not to have a war of words I am more reluctant to keep my opinions and advice to myself. Yes people will post more so they can up their count but is it really a post that will make the thread more useful?
+1 Been a member for over 2 years. And have already sold a few items with all positive feedback. Bogus.

The rule isn't going anywhere.

The 90/90 rule looks like it's working too, no new drama in the b/s/t forum. Even for the holidays when the scammers come out of the closet...

Why do you think it is working very well?

I am a carpet oval racer, there isn't much regular forum talk for us on here, we frequent hobbytalk more. However rctech.com has a much larger for sale section that is a huge benefit. I have sold and bought things here. I understand the rule, agree in fact that it will help a little, but for 2.99 you can still bypass the process. A scammer would spend 3 bucks to steal 300. I have 140 private messages but only 30 posts. On the forum I frequent I have a pile of posts because it's what I'm into.

I'm thinking the new rule will Raise awareness. When you're on the B/S/T forum and see someone just joined, with no post's and is an elite member, hopefully you raise an eyebrow.

Yes it may raise awareness but it doesn't mean that they are not a legit seller. I can give two examples in the last three months of sellers on this site that more than exceeded the "90 day 90 post" rule and both turned out to be completely unreliable. I will even list their stats in my experiences with them but not their names.

1) join date: 8/14 posts:363 I purchased a Hitec servo kit for a Losi 5ive T for $400.00 from this seller. It was listed as installed but not used. I specifically asked what the run time on this was. His reply was "installed, tested but never ran" he also stated "zero run time". When I received it you could clearly tell it was very well used and not at all like described. I contacted him and he did offer to take it back and even admitted he had been racing the 5ive with the servo in it. He did eventually relist the servo kit on here with a better description but still not accurate to what he was selling.

2) join date 10/09 posts:421 I purchased a Losi 5ive T for $1300.00 from this seller. What arrived in the mail was a $100 used impact wrench. When I contacted him he claimed to mix up the labels on the packages. He claimed to be trying to get my 5ive back and used that to buy him a few days. I filed a claim with paypal and they informed me the money didn't exist anymore. Luckily I was protected but I had to ship the impact wrench back at my expense and because of the amount of the claim had to have signature confirmation. The day it returned he didn't sign for it and left it at the post office. I had to contact paypal and he was given 72 hours to sign for it or they would close the case and return my money. Two weeks later he still had not signed for the item.

If I was a new member I would gladly pay the $3.00 a month to sell my stuff rather than wait the 90 days or 90 posts.

There is no perfect way to do this. As long as there's a exaggeration/disagreement in condition, this can happen. The new rule isn't to prevent this.

The new rule makes it harder to just create an account and post fake stuff for sale with the intent to scam.

It absolutely still can happen but a vested member has more to lose. That's what the rule is for.

I don't see why the Elite membership should bypass the wait though, seems like just a way to make $ to me.

You're right... lets bump it up to 200/200.

I like it myself. For the people with little to no posts, you can always go to ebay or craigslist and sell. The B/S/T forum is a benefit to contributing members as Racer said. If you can be here multiple years without contributing, you still get the benefit of the knowledge of the forum, and you can still buy items. You just cannot post any to sell.

I think it's a great change, but I echo that buying the elite membership shouldn't bypass it.

Thanks mods!
