I get mine on time every year.

Oh, and what about the FIA? With all that money they always put on a perfect race.

Homer for President!
Yeah I've only received like one or two ballots in 5 years as a roar member, and it was late. I rarely receive a rev up anymore. Atleast it seems roar is trying to reform........I think.

A few points based on what I have read...

1) Other posts have mentioned that the threat the person received made mention of RC Tech so not sure how someone can say it had nothing to with RC Tech. Although I'm certain the poster knew that as he was on those very threads.

2) Should that incident been enough reason for ROAR to close their venue of daily interaction with it's members? In my, casual observer, opinion - not without providing an alternative.

3) Do several people believe their are questions ROAR needs to address? Yes, and it would be in everyone's best interest if a group of established RC folks got together and addressed these issues in a professional manner.

4) It is a good testament to RC Tech's 1st amendment belief that Homer still has posting privledges? You betcha! Believing in the first amendment means believing everyone has the right to publicly voice their opinion no matter how immaturely it is presented!

You rock. I need to write that down and pin it somewhere now... Did you come up with that yourself? Because if so, I will put a "-jamescam" underneath it.

while i feel it is a cop out shutting down the boards,it was just the easy way out for them nip it in the bud and be down withit.
my problem comes from the fact that one person seems to be gloating about this when on the whole it hurt everyone else that had legit questions they wanted answered.

if i were getting death threats, real or not is not to be debated if she says she got them thats all i need to hear unless someone has proof otherwise, but that taken with the tone of the threads lately i see why they shut it down.

to me this is one more reason why roar is a broken system they keep piling the band-aids over the bullet hole, when they just need to rip it off for all to see and deal with it from there.

They obviously removed the ROAR thread for a good reason. Whatever reason that may be, that is their choice. Granted, ROAR has caused a commotion with a few rules, but that's THEIR choice. We can bitch and moan about it all we want, their rules are their rules and we can either abide by them, or we can all go scratch. It's simple. Though my views aren't as sophisticated as others, considering I'm only 15 years old, but they obviously shut it down for a good reason, and thats that. I'm assuming that's because someone was making unnecessary comments regarding the rules. This is what I think:

"ROAR has written rules for racing organizations/events to abide by. You can either follow them, or not race at all. If you don't like the rules they set, don't bother showing up on race day."

Just my .02¢. I could be making a point, or I could be making an ass of myself. Either way, that's what I think.

It isn't that easy when the organization is:

1) non-profit
2) consists of elected officials
3) is an organization that is considered the authorative voice representing an entire hobby/sport

It's my belief that Roar has been more detrimental to this hobby than any good it has done... The airplane/heli guys are years ahead of us technology wise and it's mainly due to the restrictions imposed upon us.... We've been stuck with 3 pole arms and crappy magnets for as long as I can remember... We have body rules that make no sense anymore.... There's no reasons for the electronics companies to put in any R&D... I haven't attended a roar sanctioned event in almost 15 years and won't anytime soon either...

There are reasons why limitations are in place, some of which the general racing body asks for (cost containment). I am not saying ROAR has been fast enough approving changes to spec, but there are reasons not to change them fast also( is this new technoolgy a fad ? does it blow away the exsisting tech, in turn making all of the general racer population buy new equipment). etc........

Which body rules are you specifiing ?

Sometime an orginization is good for a paticular individual, sometimes it is not. Sorry to hear you are boycotting ROAR events for the sake of your own fun. As ROAR events are held by different tracks, that may or may not run a great program.

These are just my opinions not anything form a ROAR official as I am not one.

BTW, I believe there are only a handfull of people elected in ROAR

the Pres, VP and regional directors. The rest are appointed.

But Tim, he is correct. Because of their restrictions, we're limited greatly. The bodies that can be used. Only a HANDFUL of bodies are left that can be used. The only bodies I see being used are the Alfa, Mazda6, Nemesis, & the CTS V-R. It's Touring Car, so wheres the Chevrolet Corvettes, Dodge Vipers, Jaguar XKRs, & Mustang GTs? They need to lighten up on that, and then companies would make more bodies like the Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Viper, Jaguar XKR & Mustang GT. Everyones just using the same body due to ROARs rules. Variety please! And the heli/plane guys are wayyyyyy ahead of us. If ROAR was less restrictive with cars, we wouldn't be having this discussion. My 0.02¢. Take it or leave it.

Not trying to split hairs here, but those are pretty much GT cars and not Sedans. and, in club racing, they are pretty much excepted as legal ( because they do not work as well as the aformentioned bodies , and becuase having some scale replicas is defiantly cool.) IMHO. I respectfully do not agree that they are using the same bodies due to ROAR rules, they are using them becuase they work. The place where ROAR rules really have influence is at the regional and above level, which is a small segment of the R/C industry. Look at HPI, hardly any of thier bodies are ROAR legal, and they have a huge selection. This is because the Non-Racer is the bigger segment of the industry. I just do not see the problem you say we have.

BTW, I do see room for improvement,

Sorry to break the news to you but the Caddy CTS body is ALSO a GT car.....

I just spent 5 days a Lime Rock Park and I didn't see a single Stratus or Alpha...

We're supposed to be realistic according to Roar and we're pretty far from it....
