That doesn't help if someone is searching for something specific to buy on the Classifieds. You don't search by someone's username, you search by product name, i.e. Losi, Associated, Schumacher, etc. Keywords or tag searches do not work at all.
vBulletin's threads need to be emptied and then re-indexed.
Site admin: Control Panel > Maintenance > Update Counters > Rebuild Search Index, and be sure to empty the indexes first. Do this at night when the site is under less strain, and shut the forums down before for the smoothest results.
Someone hosed something in the database last week, and it still hasn't been fixed. Considering who owns this forum now, I'm shocked this is still ongoing.
And the way the rest of this community is organized—using single, large threads for very general topics—the Search feature here is mandatory.

This site doesn't use vB's search or the built in fulltext search. It uses a custom system where re-indexing isn't that simple. We are working on fixing this.
I agree with the rest... search feature doesn't work properly. For example, I made a new for sale thread with the title of something like ***Brand new xray chassis weights XRA 306890*** ( i forget the exact item number).
Well, later I searched for my thread to check up on it, and searched for "Brand new"... didnt' show up. So I searched for "***brand new", also didnt show up. Then I searched for "Xray chassis*, also didn't show up. Searched for "Chassis weights", also didnt' show up. Then I searched for *306890* and it DID show up... So obviously, something isn't working quite right.

Of course I could be wrong, but I've only been wrong once and that's when I thought I was wrong but wasn't.
I posted in the database thread since the site is a big database. My issue is narrowed down to the search field.
I am having problems with search terms that used to show up two days ago but there is no record of them.
For example in the For Sale area if you type the word "Optima" it returns nothing. Two days ago with that same search term, you would have several full page results. I've tried two different computers to make sure it's not anything browser-related. Anyone try it to confirm?

Thanks ahead of time.
We're going to re-index the site in the morning, so at that time search will work poorly for a couple of hours and then it should be back to normal.

Search is effed up again. Typed in "futaba" and could not find the two threads I started with "futaba" in the title. I tried it with and without a capital "f"

Go back and look again—the search is only pulling up results until Feb of '07. That's not functional, and there is no reason why this should keep failing, other than the fact that RCtech insists on using non-stock vBulletin database and search configurations, and they can't make them work properly.
I could normally care less, but it has made selling anything increasingly difficult here, as no one can search for anything you are selling. This has been like this for well over two months.
And the fact that it's the biggest, if not only game in town makes for rough sailing, so to speak.
