Default R/C Tech v2.0: Official Thread

Hi all,

You may have noticed a format change in areas of the main website this morning. The site has been redesigned from scratch, though it retains the same basic look and feel for "familiarity" reasons. The code itself is 100% new.

There is a large amount of legacy web code in the pages throughout the site, and not all pages are yet converted to the new format OR looking correct in the new format.

I will be working to fix up small bugs and problems as well as adding a number of new features as days pass here. If you have any comments, suggestions or complaints, please post them here to let me know.

Thanks!

Looks good, but I don't know about the text choices/effects. If you want to send me the psd files I could touch them up a bit

Default logout

for me their should be the "logout button" because you have to PM somebody before you can logout.
that logout button should be put together beside the control panel.

I would like to see a page select button. Like you can just put the page No. that you want to look at, and it goes there. Instead of skipping every 2 or 3 pages. Im sorry if there already is this feature, but i haven't found it lol

Aeon Racer: The fonts are more or less temporary at the moment, and can be changed whenever we'd like. I am actually waiting for a real official logo to pop up in the hopes of using that for the main site title. I do like the font you used for it, though.

ruftnik: I'm not sure what you mean by having to PM somebody before logging out. There's a Log Out link at the bottom of the forum index in the lower-right area.

Johnny J: Assuming you are talking about threads in the forum, if you copy the URL to a page into the URL bar in the browser, you can change "@pagenumber=X" to equal whichever page number you'd like. If and when I get around to working with the forum software some more, I might touch that up a bit.

Keep in mind that the redesign effort itself has only focused on the non-forum pages so far.

From the main page: http://www.rctech.net/forum/

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will see a Log Out link.

fatdoggy: I am still experimenting with what all to put up there. It's looking pretty good with the posts there, I think.

what happened to the Orion news feed? I don't see it anywhere on the new site. I used to check that every time I logged onto rctech.

I am waiting to hear back from Orion on whether or not they can provide me with a text version of the newsfeed. The old one was purely graphic, and it was very restrictive on the design (could not be resized, for example).

I am hoping that it will return soon!

Looks very good Shane. Thank you very much for all your hard work. I know the pay isn't too great, but we appreciate it nonetheless!!!
