from one server admin to another...

i babysit and watch clusters, and a good handful of data servers every day when im not rc'ing.

trust me.. its not as easy as it seems. you have it easy being in the "linux" world. i have to deal wtih microsoft holes :P hahaha.. j/k

all in all site seems to be working great.

im using IE7, winxp.

at work i have ie7, vista, and firefox and they seem to run well.

on laptop i have a linux flavor, plus firefox and it seems to run well.

hotmail seems to spam some things, but ive unblocked it. (but then hotmail is still retarded)

gmail seems ok.

yahoo mail seems ok.

load times are much faster.

congrats.

Not sure if this has been asked but.... I am having problems accessing my rctech email. I download it from the rctech.mail server into Microsoft Outlook. Haven't been able to use that email for the past week.

Thanks!
Jason

Hey Shane, I seem to remember you mentioning a while back that you'd have RSS feeds for threads. Is that something that's still planned for the future? Does it require a scary update to vBulletin?

I know it's probably foreign to most people, but count me as at least one person that would LOVE to follow topics in an RSS feed. I'll even click on some ads if you embed them. I think Google does ads for feeds.

Belated thanks for the server upgrade, it's been a real pleasure to use the site lately.

Hey guys, I have encountered a problem with viewing the site. On 3 machines running Windows XP and IE7, I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display webpage" message. 2 are at home 1 at work on a different network. On my laptop I tried clearing all temp internet files, cookies etc and shutting down the firewall and antivirus with no luck. No Windows update or IE update had occured in days prior to the problem. I have now put Firefox on my laptop and it accesses the site just fine. In fact, it seems to load much faster than IE7 ever did. Any thoughts on the problem?

I think we just found a major issue that occured two days ago, where if you accessed http://rctech.net it did not work, but http://www.rctech.net did work. If that might be the problem you were having, let me know.

We just fixed it on the server side so it should propagate shortly.

I believe that was it. The problem started about two days ago. Everything seems to be cool now. Thanks!

Getting 12+ second page generation today. I think it was double that last night. Happening for me both at home and at work.

Just wanted to let you know.

Love the Forums. Keep up the great work!

We did some rolling updates to the servers earlier this morning, so things did get a little slow since not all of our web servers were online at the same time.

Things should be snappy fast again now though.

I forgot to check back... thanks for the SUPER FAST response. Thanks for an awesome Forum! Really, this place is just awesome!

I'd typically say something like "keep up the good work" but you already do that, so I'll say something more appropriate:

"Thanks!"
