Back-lighting the JR R-1 Radio
Since I have owned the JR R-1 for 3 years, I have upgraded it with the Spektrum and couldn't be happier. Thier might be faster and nicer radios out there, but the one thing that was missing was the back-light display that made it so difficult to use at night or in low light conditions. So, a week ago, I decided to do some research and I cam up with, Spend $300+ to get the radio that has what I want with spektrum and backlighting or spend $20 and solve the problem with the R-1.
This is the result, an updated R-1 with a backlight screen. After disasembly and seeing how much room I had to work with, I went with LE sheeting to solve the problem, as thier is less than 2mm of space to work with behind the LCD display.
The end result is awsome, I have what I need now and didn't have to spend but a couple hours making the mods, and about $20 in parts.
