Default UPDATE

UPDATE:

Everything is really shaping up well. We have 3 loaners ready to go and 5 chargers for use. AND a LARGE number of battery packs thanks to MAXAMPS.COM !!!!! Those guys are great!!!!

Also: Donations from RC Car Action and RC Driver that we will use as prizes.

We've also decided we are going with the inside and we will be laying down carpet...then using pvc for the track lanes. Hopefully we will get some donations there or we'll just foot the bill, either way...gotta have a decent track for people to want to race there right?!

Things are going well and hopefully we are only about a week and a half out from having our 1st race!!!! Please contiune to pray....and we are still accepting donations.

THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE HELPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool...I'll be on the look out for bodies with the fish!

UPDATE:
About a week away from an actual race! Things are going well and we're expecting a pretty decent turn-out. The local hobby shop HOBBYTOWN of Merrillville has said they would help out with a discount to anybody in the club. I think it'll be a free club to join...but provided they have accepted Christ as their savior.

Thanks for all the prayers!!!!

UPDATE:

Monday the 17th we set up the track using corrugated drainage pipe....we didn't successfully secure it down...but this was more a trial day than an actual race. About 5 people racing on a track that moved every time you bumped into the corrugated pipe....kinda funny. This week letters have gone out to our JR and up mailing list...PLEASE PRAY THAT THE RESPONSE IS GOOD!!!

FANTASIC RESPONSE IN DONATIONS!!!!!!!!
(please consider supporting these organizations!!!)

-HORIZONHOBBY
-MAXAMPS.COM
-TEAM ASSOCIATED
-RC CAR ACTION
-RC DRIVER
and an individual donation from Metalry101 of RCZ

We now have a totol of 5 RTR loaners (maybe 2 more in the works), 13 battery packs, and enough track material.((may need carpet later...we went without right now)). Also prizes of t-shirts, hats, body scissors, magazines, and magazine subscriptions. THANKS EVERYONE FOR SUCH AWSOME RESPONSE...GOD IS TRULY BLESSING THIS MINISTRY!!!!!

-Alan

I see you are starting a christian RC club which I think is awesome! Team GForce started about 8 months ago and is going strong. We race at sanctioned races and we also do what others do not. Monster Truck Freestyle. We use $10,000 worth of ramps donated by a local welding shop. We especially target kids who would not have the opportunity because of different reasons. Go to Canadian R/C Scene and look for Lacombe Days July 15 for pictures. PM for more info.

Sounds great! We need more Christian influence in the world!

Now...for another UPDATE:

-3rd week and we got what we prayed for....response! Previous week we had 1 young girl come....this week we had 9 kids and 2 dads! A couple problems....1: We are not orginized enough. 2: The cars may be too fast for 1st time kids under 11 (breaking a lot of stuff and hard to control).

There are some little things that have come up but I think those are solved with better orginization! However, I could use suggestions on the Cars being too fast. I was thinking going to 27turns....or even going with 4 or 5 cell battery packs? I don't know if cheap 27turns would slow it enough significantly...or with 4 cell packs the chargers that auto charge 6 cells would work?!?

Anybody have any other suggestions?

LMK and thanks for Everyones Prayers!!!!

We had the same issue. Levels were put into place complete with skill testing( Noob, Rookie, Elite). New unshirted members can only drive on flat surfaces and only when a shirted members is with them. To get a shirt you must know several tasks on the car. Must be consistant in meeting attendance. (4 in a row) AND!! you must have memorized John 3:16 reciting it to a leader one on one. The shirts are given to our members so if they bring disrespect to the club, themselves or family the shirt is removed and they are back to flat surfaces with a shirted member.

We are looking to set up the same kind of racing club at our church. Already have 6 RTR RC18Ts and 3 RC18T kits on order.

To slow the cars down, can't you just lower the throttle EPA on the radio after programing the speed control. I haven't ran many electics much but it should work just like it does on a nitro. I'll test it out and post back.

Edit: I just tried it out, works like a charm. I set the throttle EPA to 25% and the car moves at a nice slow speed for beginners.
